Day 11 : Everest Base Camp Trek Upgraded Lodges And Helicopter Return From Gorekshep

Location: Khumbu

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu Airport

Upon your arrival at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport, you'll be greeted by a representative who will transfer you to your hotel. Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, is a bustling hub of culture, history, and activity. After settling into your hotel, you can rest or take a stroll around Thamel, the vibrant tourist district filled with shops, cafes, and restaurants. It’s a good idea to relax and prepare for the upcoming adventure. Check your trekking gear to ensure everything is in order, as you can buy or rent any missing items in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2860m) and trek to Phakding (2610m)

The day begins early with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a small town perched at an altitude of 2,860 meters. The flight itself is an adventure, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayan range. Upon landing at Lukla's Tenzing-Hillary Airport, you’ll meet your trekking team and begin your trek to Phakding. The trek to Phakding is relatively easy, taking around 3 to 4 hours. The trail descends through pine and cedar forests, following the Dudh Koshi River. You'll pass through small villages and encounter local Sherpas, giving you a taste of the rich culture and hospitality of the region.

Day 03: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3446m)

After breakfast in Phakding, you’ll set out on a longer trek to Namche Bazaar, the main trading hub of the Khumbu region. The trail takes you over suspension bridges, through dense forests, and past numerous small villages. One of the highlights of this day is crossing the iconic Hillary Suspension Bridge. As you gain altitude, the path becomes steeper, and you'll need to pace yourself to adjust to the increasing elevation. The trek takes about 6 to 7 hours. Upon reaching Namche Bazaar, you’ll notice it’s a vibrant town with shops, cafes, and a lively market. It’s a great place to rest and acclimate to the higher altitude.

Day 04: Acclimatization Day - Visit Khumjung Village, Stay at Hotel Everest View (B/L/D)

Acclimatization is crucial to prevent altitude sickness, so this day is dedicated to getting used to the higher elevation. You’ll take a short hike to Khumjung Village and the nearby Hotel Everest View, which stands at 3,880 meters. This hike helps your body adjust to the altitude while offering stunning views of Everest and other peaks. Khumjung Village is home to the famous Khumjung Monastery, which is said to house a yeti scalp. The Hotel Everest View provides panoramic vistas of Everest, making it an excellent spot for photography and relaxation and Overnight at Hotel Everest view.

Day 05: Trek from Hotel Everest View to Diboche (3820m) (B/L/D)

Leaving Hotel Everest view you’ll trek towards Diboche, passing through the serene forested trails and enjoying views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. The trail initially climbs to Tengboche, where you can visit the renowned Tengboche Monastery, the largest gompa in the Khumbu region. This monastery is a spiritual center for the Sherpa people and offers a tranquil setting with magnificent mountain views. After exploring Tengboche, you’ll descend through rhododendron forests to reach Diboche. The trek takes about 4 to 5 hours.

Day 06: Trek from Diboche to Dingboche (4360m) (B/L/D)

The journey from Diboche to Dingboche involves trekking through a more arid and rugged landscape. You’ll pass through the village of Pangboche, which has the oldest monastery in the Khumbu region. The trail continues with gradual ascents and descents, following the Imja Khola River. As you approach Dingboche, you’ll notice the change in scenery, with fewer trees and more open fields surrounded by towering peaks. The trek takes around 5 to 6 hours. Dingboche is a picturesque village that offers a good resting spot for acclimatization, with plenty of teahouses and lodges.

Day 07: Acclimatization day in Dingboche (B/L/D)

Another acclimatization day is planned in Dingboche to help your body adjust to the altitude. You can take short hikes around the village, such as a trek to Nagarjun Hill or a walk to the Chukhung Valley. These hikes offer spectacular views of Makalu, Lhotse, and other surrounding peaks. It’s important to take it easy and not overexert yourself. Enjoy the serene environment, interact with fellow trekkers, and soak in the Himalayan beauty.

Day 08: Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche (4910m) (B/L/D)

From Dingboche, you’ll trek to Lobuche, passing through alpine meadows and yak pastures. The trail gradually ascends, and you’ll pass the memorials at Thukla Pass, dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on Everest. This part of the trek is more challenging due to the higher altitude and rocky terrain. The views become increasingly dramatic as you get closer to the base of the Khumbu Glacier. The trek to Lobuche takes about 5 to 6 hours. Lobuche is a small settlement with a few teahouses, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 09: Trek from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (5360m) and then to Gorakshep (5160m) (B/L/D)

This is one of the most exciting and demanding days of the trek. You’ll start early and trek towards Everest Base Camp (EBC), the ultimate destination. The trail is rugged and crosses glacial moraines. As you approach EBC, you’ll see tents of expeditions during the climbing season. Standing at the base camp, you’ll have a sense of achievement and can take in the surroundings, with the Khumbu Icefall and towering peaks around. After spending some time at EBC, you’ll trek back to Gorakshep, a small settlement with basic accommodations. This day’s trek takes about 6 to 7 hours.

Day 10: Trek from Gorakshep to Kalapatthar (5545m) and fly back to Kathmandu by helicopter (B/D)

An early morning trek to Kalapatthar offers the best views of Mount Everest. Kalapatthar, which means “Black Rock,” stands at 5,545 meters and provides a panoramic view of Everest and the surrounding peaks at sunrise. The climb is steep but rewarding, offering incredible photo opportunities. After descending back to Gorakshep, you’ll take a helicopter ride back to Kathmandu. The helicopter flight is an exhilarating experience, offering aerial views of the Himalayas and the trekking route you just completed. Back in Kathmandu, you’ll have a farewell dinner to celebrate the successful trek.

Day 11: Departure to Airport (B)

On your final day, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your departure flight. This review is long overdue...

09-Dec-2022

This review is long overdue and I apologize. I cannot begin to express what an amazing itinerary Mr. Bhagwat Simkhada put together for me. I travelled solo from the US and had the most amazing adventure of a lifetime. His employees and tour guides (Hi Prakash :)), looked after me as if I was family. Mr. Bhagwat Simkhada even dealt with a last minute issue (mine, not theirs), that resulted in a significant change to my itinerary while I was there, and he somehow found a way to replace my original selections with equally enjoyable excursions. My experience with Himalayan Adventure Trek was that it was superior service for everything. From the beginning in the planning stages, all the way through my final departure, Bhagwat was available and quickly responsive to phone calls and emails. Nepal was truly an incredible country to visit, adventure, culture, history and amazing people. Traveling on my own, I admit to having been a bit concerned about safety before I got there, but i was made to feel extremely comfortable first by everyone representing Himalayan Adventure and then by the staff at the hotels that were arranged, and most of all, the Nepali people themselves. I cannot wait to reach out to Bhagwat to start to plan my return visit.

The greatest trip I could...

28-Oct-2022

The greatest trip I could have imagined all thanks to Mr. Simkhada and Prakash (our lead guide) We originally reached out to Mr. Simkhada to plan our trip to Everest Base Camp and boy was it planned to the last detail - every single aspect of it was planned out from the moment we got off the plane in Kathmandu to the moment we took off to return home. Unfortunately, the one detail that can't be planned around is weather and weather derailed that trip completely - instead of flying a helicopter to Lukla, we had to pivot to a different plan. Let me set the stage because pivoting to a different plan doesn't sound like a big deal, but it was MASSIVE. People were stuck trying to go to Lukla and getting out of Lukla for about 5 days - that means that 100s of 1000s of people were looking to change their plans. Additionally, Annapurna Circuit Trek had a lot of natural disasters (landslides and avalanches) and so the only option for all these people was Annapurna Base Camp. Within 2 hours of us telling Mr. Simkhada and Prakash that we would switch our plan from EBC to ABC they had EVERYTHING planned out and not just for a group of 4 or 5 people, no 18 PEOPLE! We had tickets to Pokhara from Kathmandu, buses were ready to pick us up, porters were put in place and local assistant guides were identified and hired. All the tea houses, lunches, dinners, everything was planned. To be honest, we didn't realize the enormity of their planning excellence until we were literally on the trek running into groups that had to also re-plan their treks to not only find out that 6 to 7 people were sharing rooms, being turned away from teahouses due to full capacity, or having to set up tents to sleep outside. Outside of planning we also loved the team they put together for us. Prakash is excellent - professional but fun and extremely detail oriented. By day one, he had integrated himself into our group so well that he was endearingly calling my mom, "mom." The assistant guides Urkin, Manoj, and Sitaram were also fantastic - very loving, and made sure we had the absolute best time. Finally, the porters, the 9 porters, we never saw anything but a smile on their faces. Really hats off to this company. We could have had a disaster trip and no one would have been at fault because you can't control the weather, but despite difficult conditions - they put together a trip of a lifetime.

06-Oct-2024

We booked an 11 day trip to Nepal through Himalaya Adventures. I cannot express my thankfulness to the company for putting together an incredible trip for five of us. Each step of our trip was organised and timed to perfection. Our guide, Suresh and our incredible driver Ramesh took care of all of our needs for the entire duration of our trip. We visited so many beautiful places, ate at incredible restaurants and were amazed at the natural beauty of the land. Ramesh is an incredible driver. He navigated the crazy Kathmandu traffic like a pro and kept our safety in mine. It was easy to communicate our needs to the company and they responded immediately. I highly recommend booking your trip to Nepal through Himalayan Adventures. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

11-May-2024

BEWARE! DO NOT BOOK A ROAD TRIP WITH THIS COMPANY. Very disappointed in our “luxury” 11 day tour with H.A Treks and T in March. Despite having full knowledge of the extensive road demolition throughout Nepal, Bhagwat sent us out on a very uncomfortable and unsafe journey in a car that was completely unsuitable for the road conditions. To top it off, our driver/guide spoke no English. We chose to end the trip early and fly back to Kathmandu at our own expense. When we complained and outlined all of our concerns to Bhagwat, he reluctantly offered a refund of $100 on a $4000 ruined “luxury” trip.
