Tour Overview

Before Namiri Plains was built, these grasslands were closed to tourism for 20 years while the cheetah population was restored and researched. Upon expiry of the research lease, we were proud to be offered the rights to establish the first safari camp in this unchartered corner of the Serengeti. Our safari guides established the road networks, tracked the different prides and families across the plains, and embraced the guardianship of Namiri Plains. It is this bond, and the knowledge our guides hold, that allows them to deliver an unparallelled safari experience. Game drives track cheetah across the plains, or spy out lion basking atop granite kopjes, while walking safaris allow for a closer connection to the wilderness and the opportunity to observe the details unseen from a vehicle. In camp, relax around the pool whilst keeping an eye open for game approaching a natural spring across the plains, or schedule a massage to take your relaxation one step further. The information centre tracks the fascinating development of this habitat, providing insight into both the landscape and wildlife of Namiri Plains.

Transfer to Arusha airport for our flight to Seronera Airport. Where your safari starts to the amazing Namiri Plains depending on what we see on route there isn’t another camp for miles. We arrive for a welcome drink and lunch. Settle into camp before going out on a evening game drive returning for dinner under the stars.

Day 3 : Namiri Plains Camp

Location: Namiri Plains Camp

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Namiri Plains Camp

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Our game drives depart at the coolest times of day (early morning and late afternoon) when animals are most active. Times differ slightly with the seasons. With our private vehicle we can plan your schedule with our guide.

Start the day bright and early with a wake-up call and tea or coffee. Enjoy breakfast before you depart for a morning game drive or have it packed as a picnic to take with you. Arrive back at camp mid-morning, with a chance to freshen up before lunch.

Day 4 : Namiri Plains Camp

Location: Namiri Plains Camp

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Namiri Plains Camp

After a leisurely lunch, enjoy siesta time. Read a book or just relax and soak up the sights and sounds of the bush. Refuel with afternoon tea, then depart for an afternoon/evening game drive with sundowners.  You’ll be back in time for drinks around the campfire and dinner creating the perfect chance to unwind after a long day in the bush.

Day 5 : Namiri Plains Camp

Location: Namiri Plains Camp

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Namiri Plains Camp

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Namiri Plains is positioned along the Ngare Nanyuki River in the eastern Serengeti. The vast grassland plains are mostly open, aside from the occasional acacia tree. The hard calcrete layer beneath the topsoil prevents many trees or shrubs from growing here.

Day 6 : Namiri Plains Camp

Location: Namiri Plains Camp

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Namiri Plains Camp

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

As it’s one of the few locations in the eastern Serengeti with permanent underground water sources, game viewing is excellent. The seasonal riverbed is where plains game, such as zebras or reedbuck, come to quench their thirst making it an ideal spot for viewings. It’s no surprise that predators have cottoned on to this too. Keep an eye out for lions lurking nearby, ready to ambush their next meal.

Day 7 : Namiri Plains Camp

Location: Namiri Plains Camp

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Namiri Plains Camp

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The short grass of this area makes it popular with cheetahs who can more easily chase down their prey. It is particularly gratifying to see cheetahs here, as this part of the Serengeti was closed for around 20 years to allow the population to recover. It’s now a haven for these big cats, as well as lions and a few leopards.

The migration heads toward Namiri between October and May. During this period you may see the plains covered with wildebeest gathering here to feast on the lush grass.

Day 8 : Namiri Plains Camp

Location: Namiri Plains Camp

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Namiri Plains Camp

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

All food is made in camp, including fresh bread, biscuits and muffins. Breakfast is a continental buffet or full English and lunch is a light buffet with salad or fresh vegetables. If you opt to extend your game drive into the day, we can pack your lunch for a bush picnic. Later a three course dinner is served in the dining tent or under the stars.

We are able to cater to most diets. Please let us know of any dietary requirements ahead of your arrival.

Day 9 : Next Destination

The suite interiors are decorated in natural materials and tones. Each bathroom enjoys a view over the plains and has a standalone resin tub on the private deck, allowing for an al fresco bubble bath with a chilled glass of fizz.

These can vary depending on which safari and country, such as in South Africa you are not allowed open sided vehicles. These will be tiered allowing for 6 photographers and ensuring everyone has a window seat (not that there are any windows!).

Wildlife Dreams is very much involved with wildlife conservation. We only work with Ethical Travel credential companies.

  • What documents will I receive before I travel?

Full itinerary details and what would you should bring on safari.

  • How long should I go on safari? How many days do I need?

Three days is not enough time to really enjoy an African safari. It’s barely enough for a taste. Instead, we recommend planning at least seven days and six nights on safari. This will allow you to visit at least two different locations, which is important and truly immerse yourself in mother nature. The truth is that the more time you spend on safari, the more time you’ll have to see something

  • How long has the tour company been trading?

    Two years

  • What's the best Month to go on Safari ?

The best month to go on safari depends on what you want to see, experience, and do. Every month offers something different for visitors. In general, most safari destinations can be visited year-round. However, the weather does change each season, particularly when it comes to rainfall and thus game viewing.

  • What policies are in place for Covid-19?

All our safari camps/lodges and vehicles are cleaned every day for Covid-19

  • Malaria in Africa?

Although malaria is prevalent in Africa the chance of you as a visitor contracting the disease is very small. It is essential to take prophylactics which must be administered by your doctor before departing on your safari. Covering up in the evenings and using repellent on the areas that can’t be covered, will assist in preventing mosquitoes biting.

  • What happens if I need to change my holiday date once I’ve booked?

We would find a date for you to go on your amazing Safari, but we can't give a full refund due to our terms and conditions

  • Will the accommodation included meet local health and safety regulations?

All of our camps and lodges meet the full local health and safety regulations and why we use them for every safari.

  • Do you operate a “single share” option and how does it work?

All our prices are single supplement rates

  • Who will be my travelling companions on the tour?

Your travelling companions will have the same passion as you for photography and wildlife. You will come as strangers but leave as friends.

  • Camp sizes

Most people don’t realize that most camps are very small. So they don’t impact on the environment. So bookings for camps for the world market can be intense. Wildlife Dreams have been working to secure these camps just for our tour groups, but our opportunity doesn’t last forever.

  • Am I contributing to any charity by booking the tour?

Our profits from all our tours go towards our conservation partners on our website.

Namari Plains

10-Dec-2023

Big Cat Country in this unique part of the Serengeti, giving you the best cat sightings in East Africa with options on photographing low down with specialist photographic vehicle. Apart from the thriving cheetah population, the safety provided by the years of research has meant other predator populations have also started to boom. Lion and spotted hyena concentrations are very high in the region. Wildlife Dreams is proud to bring you this safari as part of their portfolio in making my Wildlife Dreams come true.
