Visit the remains of the once mighty Hippodrome and marvel at the Blue Mosque's 2,500 stained glass windows before continuing to Hagia Sophia, the crowning achievement of the Byzantine Empire. Next visit the extraordinary Basilica Cistern, a 10,000 square meter underground water store in the heart of the ancient city, whose vaulted ceilings are supported by a forest of 9-metre high columns plundered from all over the Byzantine empire. Day 3: Bosphorus Strait

This morning, head over to the iconic Grand Bazaar, one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world. Then stroll through the Spice Bazaar and visit Rustem Pasa Mosque, whose tiles are among the finest in Turkey. After lunch, visit the UNESCO-listed Fener and Balat districts. Walk through the colourful, labyrinth-like streets of these historical neighbourhoods. This morning you’ll drive inland onto the Anatolian Plateau to the traditional town of Konya, famous as the burial place of the Islamic mystic and poet Rumi, founder of the Order of the Whirling Dervishes. Visit the striking Mevlana Museum, home to the mausoleum of Rumi himself.
Day 11: Sultanhani Caravanserai

Depart Konya for Sultanhani Caravanserai, a former resting point for the caravans that once travelled the famous Silk Road. This is the largest and best-preserved caravanserai in Turkey and one of the best examples of Anatolian Seljuk architecture. Continue to Cappadocia and arrive at the stunning Ihlara Valley, a spectacular gorge that reaches depths of 100 metres. Enjoy lunch and a short walk along the valley, then continue to the hotel in Urgup. Later in the evening take in a spectacular Whirling Dervish performance at the historical Saruhan Caravanserai.
Day 12: Cappadocia

Experience Cappadocia's fantastical topography and long history on a full day tour of the region. Admire the preserved rock-hewn churches of Goreme, then at Pasabag Valley marvel at the unusual rock formations. Your hosts will welcome you, then prepare and serve a variety of traditional dishes - a unique experience. Then continue to Kaymakli Underground City, a subterranean settlement that provided refuge for some of the world's earliest Christian communities.

Today we fly to Istanbul, where we stay for one more night. On arrival in Istanbul, check into your hotel then enjoy the rest of the afternoon in one of the world's great cities. On your final evening, visit the bustling and historical district of Kumkapi, on the Sea of Marmara, where fishermen have lived and worked for centuries. Enjoy traditional Turkish cuisine, often with traditional live music and belly-dance performances going on around you.

What documents will I receive before I travel?
Your Final Travel Documents are usually sent to you 2-3 weeks prior to your departure. Your travel pack will include your tour itinerary, hotel details, flight e-tickets and a travel guide. If you have booked with a travel agent, your tickets will be dispatched to your travel agent unless we have been otherwise informed.

Will I be travelling with passengers from other countries?
Our passengers generally enjoy the mixture of British, Australian and American clients on tour. Occasionally we are joined by English-speaking passengers from other countries.

What is 'Happy to Share'?
Customers booking to travel solo can choose our ‘Happy to Share’ option, which may enable them to share a twin room with other solo customers of the same gender who also request Happy to Share, thus avoiding the need to pay single room supplements. Note that ‘Happy to Share’ requests can be received when you make your booking with us but will not be confirmed until your final payment due date. If a share partner is found, the Single Supplement will be removed from your booking. If a share partner is not found, the Single Supplement will remain and is payable with your final balance in line with our normal booking conditions. Either way, our Operations Team will contact you around 75 days before departure to let you know whether a share partner has been found or not.
