Make your own way to Lecce, capital of the Salento region. From the train station you can take a taxi (allow EUR15-20) to the hotel, which is located in the historical centre of the city. Inside a 17th century building, this charming hotel will be your home for two nights.
Meet your guide and group at 6pm at the hotel followed by a welcome dinner.
Lecce has the charm of Prague, the stonework of Florence and is about the size of Siena. Within its walls are numerous churches and convents, cultural sites, ancient monuments, museums, libraries and cafes. It is a city to to meander through, not knowing what will greet you at your next turn. We recommend arriving in the afternoon and taking time to wander, explore and relax in the piazza overlooking the amphitheatre, enjoying the ambience. We can assist with booking pre-tour nights on request.

We'll then set off on foot along the coastline, discovering flowers and Mediterranean vegetation, as well as the Saracen watchtowers. We take the train or bus back to Lecce where you can enjoy a free evening discovering its main monuments.

Our walk in Puglia was outstanding. We had a small cohesive group who got on well thanks to the excellent leadership by our wonderful guide Marion. She is organised, kind and very knowledgeable about the area, including the flora and fauna. The accommodation was authentic and very comfortable and included excellent food and wine. We highly recommend this trip and specially Marion who is an excellent asset.

Puglia Guided Walk

10 Oct 2019

Puglia trip was fabulous, and a huge part was due to our guide, Gianluca Dentico. His professionalism, respect, sense of humor, intelligence and knowledge of the area, (culture, history, flora/fauna, logistics), and caring attitude were much appreciated. He gave of his own time more than once to get our group oriented and happy in a new town. I cannot think of any improvement he could make. Did a great job keeping control of a large group without making anyone feel contained. I talked with most of our group, and I know they felt the same way I did about Gianluca - a credit to your organization!

Puglia Guided Walk

8 Oct 2024

Our walking trip in Puglia was wonderful. The accommodation was excellent, from the Palazzo in Lecce, to the Masseria in Ostuni to the Sassi hotel in Matera. The walks were well planned, varied and through beautiful scenery from olive groves, beachside tracks, trulli filled villages to rocky ravines. Our guide Marion was fantastic - she lead our group of 7 with care and kindness and her knowledge of the local environment, flora and fauna impressed us all. Thank you UTracks for such a great experience and special thanks to Marion, you really made our week memorable.
