Location: Aramon

Accommodation Name: boat

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We cruise for two hours this morning to the new harbour on the Rhone at Aramon. From here we cycle to the best preserved Roman aqueduct in Europe, the Pont du Gard. This UNESCO listed aqueduct is a truly spectacular work of architecture. Later we return to our mooring in Aramon, a typical village on the banks of the Rhone, with a beautiful view over the Mont Ventoux. Elevation +-240m/787ft

Accommodation Name: boat

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today's cycle takes us along country roads to the town of Barbentane with its castle at the confluence of the Rhone and Durance rivers. From here we continue to the magnificent Abbey of Saint Michel de Frigolet whose grounds are perfect for a picnic. Later we continue to the medieval village of Boulbon before returning to the boat at Vallabrègues. Elevation +-210m/689ft

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today's cycle brings us to Saint Remy de Provence, the birthplace of Nostradamus. This village is one of the "must-sees" in Provence. Vincent Van Gogh was treated here at Monastery Saint-Paul de Mausole and was so inspired by the light and landscape that he created 143 oil paintings and more than 100 drawings. We cycle to the Alpilles (hills), with an ascent to the fortified town of Les Baux de Provence. This picturesque village is lodged high atop the rock itself. A landscape of limestone cliffs, lavender and olive trees accompanies our journey. Continue to Arles. Elevation +-380m/1246ft

Day 6 : Visit Arles and cycle to Saint Gilles, by boat to Aigues Mortes (25km/15.5mi)

Location: Arles

Accommodation Name: boat

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

This morning is dedicated to exploring Arles, the ancient capital of Gaul. You will be welcomed by a professional guide, who will accompany you around the jewels of the town (1hr). World Heritage listed, Arles has many important and beautiful Roman ruins. After lunch we reach Franquevaux by bike, from where we sail to Aigues Mortes for our overnight stay. The striking walled town of Aigues-Mortes is set on the Petite Camargue, a flat marsh. The town has changed little in outward appearance since the Middle Ages, with its watch towers and fortified portes or gates. It was established as a port town with access to the sea via a canal through the marshlands. We recommend trying a "fougasse", a traditional local pastry made with Brioche dough, sugar and orange blossom. Elevation +-100m/328ft

Day 7 : Discover the Camargue by bike (55km/34mi)

Accommodation Name: boat

We discover the spectacular Camargue on today's round cycle. We return to Aigues Mortes for the last night on board the boat. Elevation +-160m/525ft

I have now done 2 bike and barge holidays with UTracks and both have been exceptionally well organised . We are older (63 & 74) and used ebikes both times. The booking process and information provided beforehand was well put together and all my questions were answered in a timely manner. Equipment provided on tour was in excellent condition and tour guides knew their stuff and how to keep everyone safe and happy. On the latest holiday in Provence the chef was producing meals every night that would not have been out of place in a fine dining restaurant as well as fulfilling the role of extra deck hand when required. I can’t speak highly enough of the staff. ...more ...less

The trip on the Estelle was good in every respect, with the cuisine outstanding. The only serious criticism I have is the boat company's insistence on being paid in cash and not by credit card at the end of the trip. Everyone uses cards nowadays...

Loved the whole trip. Especially loved how well the crew worked together to help each other and make everything work well for us. The chef helped load the bikes. The captain helped serve dinner, etc.

The trip was everything we were looking for. Great food, very well organised, great service by the staff aboard the barge and the barge was generally very clean and tidy. The number of guests on the barge (17) was a god number, particularly when it came to dining and any more may have made it a little crowded. The cycling was just right and the rating on the website was accurate in our opinion. The distance cycled was good for us with the scenery interesting, the bikes were good, the group we cycled with were great and our tour leader Antonio did a wonderful job. Antonio was very good and looked after everyone. He was informative and fun to do a tour with. He interacted well with people and certainly made the trip a great holiday. Overall we could not fault the trip. Well done to everyone. ...more ...less

We thoroughly enjoyed our barge and bike tour and would recommend it to anyone. The cycling was generally very easy with only a few rough trails or steep inclines ( we used electric bikes which made this very easy). Our guide, Helmut, was very knowledgeable and made us feel safe during the rides. All the on board staff were very attentive and helpful and a special mention must go to Juliano, our chef for the week who constantly prepared absolutely delicious meals. We would definitely consider booking another tour. ...more ...less

We were very pleased with the chef on the Estrell. The food was fantastic. Our biking guide was also a history buff which was great. His guiding was for the most part good. Just a few minor issues.
