Day 1 : Livingstone, Zambia

Location: Livingstone

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Waterfront - Camping in twin share tents with shared facilities

Meals Included: No Meals

This tour starts with a visit to the Victoria Falls, at various times of year the spray from the ‘Falls' can be seen from up to 20 or 30 kilometres away, hence the local name ‘Mosi oa Tunya' – the ‘Smoke that Thunders'.

Don't forget your raincoat to keep you and your camera dry!

We highly suggest booking a few days pre tour accommodation in order for you to explore the Victoria Falls area to the full.

Activities available in the region (typically these include rafting, canoeing, bungee, abseiling, gorge swinging, elephant and horse riding, scenic flights, river cruises), allowing you to plan your time accordingly.

Apart from the adventure activities already mentioned, check out the markets and fascinating museum in nearby Livingstone, volunteer a day in a local project, go on a day trip to Victoria Falls Township in Zimbabwe, or simply relax on the beautiful campsite deck and watch the Zambezi River flow quickly past on its way to Victoria Falls.

Our campsite is surrounded by the Mosi au Tunya National Park so for those wanting more game drives these are available on your doorstep! Elephants crossing the Zambezi River from Zimbabwe can be seen as well as giraffe, buffalo, white rhino, eland, warthog, hippo as well as a variety of different monkey species.

N.

B: For the sake of practicality, meals in Livingstone/Victoria Falls area are restricted to breakfasts.

This allows you to take on half day or full day activities (some of which include lunch) without having to back with the group mealtimes.

The Waterfront camp restaurant overlooks the Zambezi River and offers a good selection of reasonably priced meals and snacks throughout the day (allow US$15-$30 per meal).

Relax and enjoy these few days at your own leisure.

Alternatively, take a taxi into Livingstone to try local fare

Day 2 : Livingstone – Kasane, Botswana

Location: Livingstone, Kasane

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Thebe River Lodge - Camping in twin share tents with shared facilities

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Moving on from Livingstone, we travel a short distance to the Botswana border and on to the town of Kasane - the gateway to Chobe National Park.

By size, Chobe is the third largest park in the country and is the most diverse - home to elephant, lion, buffalo, hippo and abundant birdlife, including the famous African fish eagle.

We take a Fish Eagle cruise on the Chobe River – a great opportunity to see hippo and perhaps elephant or buffalo coming to the river to bathe and drink.

The Chobe River is a major watering spot for large breeding herds of elephants, as well as families of giraffe, sable and buffalo.

The flood plains are the only place in Botswana where the puku antelope can be seen.

Birding is also excellent here.

When in flood, spoonbills, ibis, and various species of stork and other waterfowl flock to the area.

Day 3 : Chobe National Park – Elephant Sands, Nata

Location: Chobe National Park, Elephant Sands Lodge

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Elephant Sands Lodge - Camping in twin share tents with shared facilities

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

This morning we head out to explore the Chobe National Park in an open vehicle game drive where we may have the opportunity to spot not only elephant that are so prolific in the park, but also lion and different antelope species.

Moving on from Chobe we continue south and may still encounter elephant and buffalo alongside the road.

We arrive to our camp in the afternoon.

There are no fences and wildlife roams freely.

Many groups report seeing elephant and antelope at close proximity from the campsite - a very relaxing way to view wildlife!

Day 4 : Elephant Sands, Nata - Maun

Location: Elephant Sands Lodge, Maun

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Delta Rain's Sitatunga Camp - Camping in twin share tents with shared facilities

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We leave Elephant Sands and make our way to Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta.

Maun is an eclectic mix of modern buildings and native dwellings.

Although officially still a village, Maun has developed rapidly from a rural frontier town to a community that has spread along the wide banks of the Thamalakane River.

This is an area where red lechwe antelope can still be seen grazing alongside local donkeys, goats and cattle.

Since Maun's founding in 1915 it has had a reputation as a hard-living 'Wild West' town helping the local cattle ranching and hunting operations.

Maun today is a thriving tourist town famous for its donkey population and to a lesser extent, goats.

These animals can be seen standing around town as they are used by local traders and farmers alike to transport their wares to sell on the curb side.

NB: If time allows, we have the opportunity to take an optional scenic flight over the Delta in the afternoon.

Day 5 : Maun - Okavango Delta

Location: Maun, Okavango Delta

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Elephant Camp – Twin share pre-erected tents with en-suite facilities (basic-style bucket shower & toilet)

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Leaving the campsite in Maun we begin our excursion into the Okavango Delta in an open 4x4 truck to the mokoro station.

Here we will be introduced to the local Tswana Polers who will be our guides for our overnight expedition.

We travel by mokoro (dugout canoe) amongst the giant lily pads, tall grasses and labyrinthine channels in search of resident wildlife, making our way to our tented camp.

The Okavango is a natural wetland spreading over some 1.

6million hectares and offers a perfect habitat for the many species of wildlife that roam here freely.

The Okavango River rises in Angola (farther to the north) and flows south, dividing repeatedly after crossing into Botswana to form an intricate floodplain of channels, which spread out into a broad flat inland delta – the only one of its kind in the world.

We enjoy the afternoon wilderness experience and overnight listening to the sounds of the African night - an unforgettable experience!

Day 6 : Okavango Delta - Maun

Location: Okavango Delta, Maun

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Delta Rain's Sitatunga Camp - Camping in twin share tents with shared facilities

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

This morning we take an easy paced mokoro ride out of the Okavango Delta back to the polers' station from where we will drive back to Maun.

We aim to get back to camp around lunch time to allow for the opportunity to enjoy an optional scenic flight over this spectacular UNESCO world heritage site.

Alternatively, the afternoon can be spent at leisure at the camp's pool.

Day 7 : Maun - Ghanzi

Location: Maun, Ghanzi

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Ghanzi Trailblazers - Camping in twin share tents with shared facilities

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We leave Maun to make our way to Ghanzi, which skirts the Kalahari Desert.

Here, in this midst of (seemingly) barren terrain -  we meet the San/Bushman and have a guided bush walk for a cultural experience and insight into these ancient people's way of life.

We learn how they work with nature and manage the renewable resources found in their natural surroundings without damaging the fragile balance of this ecosystem - something we can all learn from.

Your support of this ecotourism venture gives the San/Bushman a sustainable income and helps keep their culture alive.

Around the campfire at night, you can experience the ancient dance rituals of the San/Bushman.

On special occasions this could be a healing or trance dance, which can continue all night, and is an intense spiritual experience for participants and visitors alike.

Day 8 : Ghanzi – Windhoek, Namibia

Location: Ghanzi, Windhoek

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Urban Camp - Camping in twin share tents with shared facilities

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today we leave Botswana behind and travel to Windhoek, the capital of Namibia.

Situated in a basin between the Khomas Highland, Auas and Eros Mountains, Windhoek (population approx 200,000) is small capital by global standards.

The city centre is characterised by a proliferation of German style buildings, a lasting reminder of Namibia's early colonial history.

Take the opportunity to enjoy a night out at one of the local restaurants or visit the famous 'Joe's Beer House'

Day 9 : Windhoek – Etosha National Park

Location: Windhoek, Etosha National Park

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Okaukuejo or Halali or Namutoni Camp - Camping in twin share tents with shared facilities

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We make our way north to Etosha National Park, a vast reserve of over 20,000 sq km surrounding a central salt depression or pan.

The pan is seasonally full of water, but specially managed waterholes sustain some 114 mammal and 340 bird species throughout the rest of the year.

We spend two nights here, usually making camp near a floodlit waterhole.

Observers frequently see a range of night visitors including elephant, giraffe, zebra, even lion and hyena, making it one of the most memorable wildlife encounters in Namibia - a truly African experience and a highlight of any trip to Namibia.

We have a short afternoon game drive on entering the park on our way to the camp.

Day 10 : Etosha National Park

Location: Etosha National Park

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Okaukuejo or Halali or Namutoni Camp - Camping in twin share tents with shared facilities

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today, we enjoy a full day game driving in this magnificent animal kingdom - taking in the park's main characteristic, the salt pan.

Despite the dry nature of the terrain, the park sustains a wide variety of bird species including the large kori bustard, secretary bird and many other seed & insect eaters, as well as birds of prey.

After a full day game driving we return to camp, or onto the next camp and enjoy our last evening around the floodlit watering holes, observing natural animal behaviour at its best.

Day 11 : Etosha National Park – Spitzkoppe

Location: Etosha National Park, Spitzkoppe

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Spitzkoppe Community Camp - Camping in twin share tents with shared basic toilet facilities

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We game drive out of Etosha National Park and turn south making our way to the beautiful Damaraland region where we explore the eerie Spitzkoppe where ancient bushman paintings are still visible.

The giant boulder-like rock formations reach a peak at some 1800m above sea level and create a spectacular view.

Take your time to explore the area and its delightful calmness.

Keep an eye on the ever-changing colour of the rock, especially during sunrise and sunset, when they acquire intense red shades.

The most impressive rock painting is “Bushman Paradise” and the natural rock bridge is a favourite viewpoint.

NB: Please take care if climbing onto the rocky outcrops.

The surfaces have been smoothed by aeons of sun, wind and blown dust: they can be extremely slippery especially if you are not wearing suitable footwear.

The Spitzkoppe Rest camp lies at the base of the mountain and is owned and maintained by the local community to which all proceeds from our visit to Spitzkoppe go

Day 12 : Spitzkoppe - Swakopmund

Location: Spitzkoppe, Swakopmund

Accommodation: Lodge

Accommodation Name:   Amanpuri - Dorm Bed

Meals Included: Breakfast

Departing the granite infused Spitzkoppe, we make our way to the Atlantic coast and to Swakopmund.

Swakopmund makes for a refreshing change with cooler Atlantic sea air, a taste of civilization and a swathe of exciting things to do and places to explore.

Try some adventure desert-based activities like quad biking, sand boarding, skydiving (weather permitting).

For those seeking a quieter life, enjoy the other side of Swakopmund: shops, restaurants, museums, the aquarium, art galleries or simply walk along the promenade admiring the ocean, the quaint German-style architecture and indulge in the town's café culture.

N.

B: For the sake of practicality, meals in Swakopmund are restricted to breakfasts.

This allows you to take on half day or full day activities (some of which include lunch) without having to be back for meal times.

Swakopmund town offers a variety of bakeries and cafes with a selection of reasonably priced meals (allow ZAR 80-150 per meal).

Relax and enjoy these days at your own leisure.

Day 13 : Swakopmund

Location: Swakopmund

Accommodation: Lodge

Accommodation Name: Amanpuri - Dorm Bed

Meals Included: Breakfast

Today is a free day to enjoy all this quaint seaside town has to offer - from the many optional activities to the German patisseries, cafés and restaurants.

Day 14 : Swakopmund To Sossus On Foot Camp

Location: Swakopmund, Sossus On Foot Desert Tours

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Sossus On Foot Camp - Camping in twin share tents with shared facilities

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Continuing south, we cross over the Tropic of Capricorn, stopping for a photo opportunity en route to our stunning desert campsite in the Khomas region of Namibia.

Day 15 : Swakopmund To Sossus On Foot Camp

Location: Swakopmund, Sossus On Foot Desert Tours

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Little Sossus Lodge - Camping in twin share tents with shared facilities

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

This morning we leave our desert camp early and enter the National Park to trek to the top of famous Dune 45.

It's a spectacular sight but be warned, it's not an easy feat to reach the top as some dunes are over 300m high! After a well-earned breakfast we continue deeper into the park for a short shuttle ride and nature walk to ‘Dead Vlei', amidst the giant sand dunes – a real glimpse of Namibia's unspoilt natural environment.

Bring your camera – the shifting colours of the desert as the sun climbs throughout the mid/late morning offer some brilliant photographic opportunities.

Departing from the dunes, we stop off at the smaller Sesriem Canyon where the multiple layers of rock and pebbles make for an interesting insight to what lies beneath the mountains of sand.

Thereafter we make our way to our camp for the night.

Day 16 : Sossus On Foot Camp – Sesriem Area

Location: Sossus On Foot Desert Tours, Sesriem

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Canyon Road House - Camping in twin share tents with shared facilities

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today we drive south through barren and rocky landscapes, dotted with quiver trees, to the world's second largest canyon.

Fish River Canyon is one of the natural wonders of Africa, some 500m deep and over 160km long.

Again, there are plenty of opportunities for keen photographers as we spend time around this area and visit the canyon's infamous sharp river bend known as ‘Hell's Corner.

Day 17 : Fish River Canyon – Orange (Gariep) River, Namibia

Location: Fish River Canyon, Orange River

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Felix Unite - Camping in twin share tents with shared facilities

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Leaving the mighty Fish River Canyon, we travel south to the Gariep (Orange) river.

Our campsite lies on the banks of the river on the Namibia side.

On arrival we have the opportunity to partake in an optional canoe safari on the river to see the striking Richtersveld scenery, or simply relax on the water's edge at camp.

Day 18 : Orange (Gariep) River – Cederberg Region

Location: Orange River, Cederberg Municipality

Accommodation: Camp

Accommodation Name: Highlanders Camp - Camping in twin share tents with shared facilities

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

This morning, we cross the border into South Africa and continue south passing through Namaqualand, well known for its prolific display of wildflowers that occur in spring (best seen between August – September).

We camp at a picturesque campsite nestled near the Olifants River.

Here we have the opportunity to sample some of the beautiful wines of the region.

Day 19 : Cederberg Region – Cape Town

Location: Cederberg Municipality, Cape Town

Meals Included: Breakfast

We leave the scenic Cederberg area and travel south, passing the rich fruit growing area of Citrusdal and the spectacular views as we meander down the Picketberg Pass to the Western Cape Province.

We continue to cosmopolitan Cape Town - without a doubt one of the world's most beautiful cities, where our tour ends.

If time allows we recommend you spend a few days exploring the city and surroundings.

Take advantage of the variety of activities normally available here.

30-Apr-2024

Just finished the 10 day ANZAC tour in Türkiye. Wow what an experience! The tour although busy was jam packed with amazing experiences made all the more richer by our highly knowledgable and very funny guide Aykut. The bus was full of 44 Aussies and Kiwis which would've been no easy feat to control. Aykut and our drivers Naci and Sevki were kind and patient making our long drives enjoyable. Gallipoli was a bucket list of mine, and what a beautiful humbling experience it was, especially the following day tour of the cemeteries. Other than that highlight, the early morning hot air balloon and all the other sites the Kapadokya offers was pretty special too. I will be using Travel Talk again. 5 stars!

26-Apr-2024

We did the 11 Day Anzac Tour of Turkey. It. Was. Phenomenal. My husband and I absolutely love Turkey and were excited to explore the country. Highlights were definitely the Hot Air Balloons in Cappadocia and the privilege of attending the Dawn Service at Anzac Cove. A bucket list item ticked off. This was my second Travel Talk in 2024 and I would absolutely do another one in the future. The tour was organised and our guide, Mustafa, was fantastic.

One of the best holidays I’ve had

25-Feb-2021

We went on a tour of the Balkans and it was above our expectations. Bojan was the best tour leader gave us so much information about the places we were visiting but also a great laugh! The tour ran so smoothly and was the perfect way to see the area in a little amount of time. It was one of the best holidays I have been on, I loved every minute of it and I can’t wait to book another tour with travel talk. They are great value for money!

Just completed the exotic Morocco tour with our excellent guide Abdul! He was one of the best tour guides I have met, he brought so much energy and knowledge on the tour and could not imagine doing the tour without him. The tour itself was so diverse, seeing so many different landscapes. It has been one of the best trips I have done. Would highly recommend!

26-Apr-2024

I would 100% recommend the ANZAC Travel Talks tour, just finishing the 11 day tour here in Istanbul with our guide Mustafa. I travel alone and have done multiple tours with other well known and popular travel companies and this has hands down been the best!!! INFORMATION! Haha So much engaging history and knowledge from our guide, I found the tours of the palace and ruins with Mustafa very enjoyable. The freedom to skip a museum or tour to explore the city was encouraged. Meet back points and day plans were clearly communicated making it easy to have autonomy in a group setting. I felt like I was in charge of my own holiday and tour experience, which as a solo traveller who loves to do her own thing was perfect! We visited such amazing places on this tour that were bucket list items and once in a life time experiences! A hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia, walking the ruins in Ephesus & Troy. The dawn service at ANZAC Cove and Lone Pine Gallipoli. I am still in awe of the amazing things we have done and seen in these last 11days! The country of Turkey itself is absolutely beautiful and the people here even more so. Very generous and kind, I always felt safe as a female travelling alone. The food AMAZING! Baklava, doner kababs, rice stuffed muscles and Turkish delights to name a few, will make you fall in love! Accommodation was big beautiful mostly 4-5 star hotels in great locations on the beach, in the city! Comfortable beds, ample space and an abundance of food! Most of our accomodation provided buffet breakfast and dinner. Not having to worry about where to eat at the end of a long day or before an early start was very convenient. The work placed into the ANZAC service, security and protection was hands down phenomenal. Multiple check points for security, Turkish workers handing out water, offering first aid, and clearly communicating and directing crowds for the services. All my anxieties for the day were put at ease seeing the work and dedication put in by the Turkish people and government. I honestly cannot fault this tour and want everyone to experience Turkey the way I have gotten to experience this beautiful country. This ANZAC tour will forever be in my memories and my heart as one of the best trips I have ever done! Truely, thank you, teşekkür ederim, Travel Talks Tours.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our 9 Day Essential Turkey tour with Mustafa as our guide. His attentiveness to the group's needs was amazing, going above and beyond to ensure an stress-free experience. Mustafa provided valuable local insights, guiding us on the best areas to visit and helping us find good local deals. Overall, we found the tour to be excellent value for money, and we were particularly impressed with traveltalks accommodation choices—clean, spacious, and offering great meal options. Travel talk Balkans is amazing....

15-Jun-2024

Travel talk Balkans is amazing. While there was a lot of travelling we saw heaps and the bus was very comfortable. Voijn was very knowledgeable and helpful. The best guide I have ever met for organisation, personality and knowledge. The food was amazing and very good value for money. Every day felt like the best day. Sarajevo blew my mind with the history of the aggression there (our guide lived through it). No harassment to buy in the souk (or anywhere). Every view of Kotor was a postcard. Trebinje was a mini Dubrovnik. Lake Ohrid was stunning with St Naum monastery a beautiful bonus. Hotels were all great. Photos to follow. I’m still on this tour and on my way to Greece tomorrow

Fantastic tour, personable experiences

19-Oct-2021

My first tour with Traveltalk to Jordan was fantastic. Everything was very well planned, the itinerary was timed to perfection and jam packed with amazing experiences. The tour guide Issa went above and beyond to make everyone happy and have the best experience possible, taking us to local restaurants and telling us the best things to eat. Our bus broke down on the way to the Dead Sea and he dealt with it really quickly, and a replacement bus arrived in less than an hour. He treated us all like his friend rather than just a job which make the tour even more special. The hotels were fab and had everything that we needed, all I great locations to local attractions. I booked another tour but had to cancel due to Covid and Traveltalk have placed my deposit aside ready to use on the next trip. I can’t wait to book again with them.
