Tour Overview

The Kanchenjunga Circuit trek explores both the north and south base camps of Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world at 8,586m. Kanchenjunga is a remote area trek in Nepal, which requires a good level of fitness, and some trekking experience is desirable. Yet despite its remoteness, travelers gain insight into peoples’ way of life and can explore Ramtang and Oktang Monasteries. On this route, the landscape is filled with the river, beautiful waterfalls, green meadows, rhododendron forest, birch, and pine forests, the Yalung Glacier, and of course, trekkers are accompanied on the route by the majestic Himalayas. Mt. Kanchenjunga itself lies in the far eastern part of Nepal, close to the border with Sikkim, a tiny Himalayan state in the north-eastern part of India. Until mid-1800, it was thought Kanchenjunga was the highest peak in the earth. Kanchenjunga region was closed to trekkers until the mid-1980. Now the region is protected by the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area and required special trekking permit. With these restrictions, the pretty and unique flora and fauna of this region is still in pristine condition. The Himalayas themselves with regards, in addition to the main peak of Mt. Kanchenjunga, there are four subsidiary summits over 8,000m, the most important being Mt. Kanchenjunga West, also known as Mt. Yalung Kang (8,505m). Also found in this area are approximately more than 15 peaks over 7,000m, the highest being , mt. Kambachen (7,903m), mt. Janu (7,710m), Jongsong (7,483m), mt. Kabru (7,353m), Tent Peak (7,365m), and the Twins (7,350m). In this region, there are many peaks over 6,000 meters. This is an impressive cluster of peaks are five major glacial systems. Of these, Zumu, Talung and Rathong flow into Sikkim while to the west, the Mount Kanchenjunga and Mount Yalung glaciers flow into the mighty Tamor River of Nepal. The main highlights of trekking in Kanchenjunga is an unforgettable experience where trekkers get right into the heart of the remote, less trekked, less-crowded, culturally rich, high Himalaya mountains, and beautiful valleys. This is also an additional to trekking map of the Great Himalayan Trail, Nepal tourism is being promoted in this, as well as other, remote areas so there is the opening up of more teahouses on this region. This is also positive for the local communities, now really great time to go to Kanchenjunga trek before more trekkers ‘discover’ this remote area! This is a challenging demanding trek that requires physical fitness, technical knowledge, and determination. We trek with strong Sherpa proper rest and acclimatization to reach the high altitude destinations. offseason (December-February and June-August) there will we closed teahouse we need to camp some of the day's, proper camping tool will also be carried.

Excellent Trip with magnificent views!

21-Nov-2019

My wife and I just completed a 26-day trek of Kanchenjunga circuit trek, we visited South and north base camp. Between the two of us we've completed 7 treks in Nepal and of all the teams we've used, Sherpa Expedition and Trekking are by far the best. They are a well-managed company from the top down and their guides (Ram Barakoti) are very experienced in all things related to Nepal trekking. I highly recommend them for both their expertise and fair price. Ram Barakoti ids one of the best guide for Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek, He said, he has been Kanchenjunga more than 20 times. This was our fourth hiking trip to Nepal and we knew exactly what we wanted for our Kanchenjunga Circuit trek. We began planning on Sept 18 for the trek and all contact with Sherpa Expedition in the office was very professional and responses quick. All questions answered truthfully and a good relationship was established. Final negotiations were smooth and we had a happy agreement for the trek. We met Ram and Kiran in the office in KTM along Ram was our guide. All the technical aspects of the trek were superb! Great Porters, Kahdka and Kalu, helped make the trek easier and Tek did a fantastic job as our Guide. We miss them already!! Before starting the trek we appreciated that all our questions were answered very fast (communication per email). During the trekking, we felt very safe and everything was well organized. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. Because we finished our trip earlier we returned to KTM a few days earlier than planned and Sherpa Expedition and Trekking organized sightseeing and other activities for us.

Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek with Ram Guide!

06-Aug-2019

Sherpa Expedition and Trekking organised a 26-day trek, over-300 kilometres, to the Kanchenjunga conservation area in Eastern Nepal. The company made all travel arrangements, incl special permits, flights to/from Bhadrapur, jeep taxi to/from Taplejung, and the teahouse accommodation along the way. Their guide, Mr Ram, knew the area well and provided excellent guidance. I was able to explore both Kanchenjunga north and south basecamp, the Jannu basecamp and cross the four passes on the route from Ghunsa to Tseram. A truly memorable trip! Well done, Ram Barakoti! If anyone looking for Kanchenjunga trip you have to book Ram Guide in Advance.
