Tour Overview
The Gokyo Cho La Pass Trek is more technically advanced than some of the other treks in the region and therefore more adventurous! It encompasses all the common sights in the region, such as Namche Bazaar, Tengboche Monastery, Everest View Hotel, Gokyo Ri, and Everest Base Camp, but also includes a visit to the Gokyo Lakes by crossing the high altitude Cho La Pass (5,330m) which one main highlight in this region. In this trek, some of the day 7 to 9 hours but the majority are 5 to 6 hours in length. This is a magnificent trek for those with stamina and a sense of great adventure. Flying out of the Lukla in the mountains ensures the penalty of time is spent in the Himalayas. But, acclimatization is a must and this is done in the popular Namche Bazaar, from here it will possible to take a short, but very steep walk to Syangboche ( Everest View hotel) for our first close-up of Mt Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Taboche, Kusum Kangaru and Thamserku. On this Gokyo Chola Pass Trek, we can also explore Khumjung Village, Sagarmatha National Park office, Sherpa Museum, and the Khumjung Hillary School, started by Sir Edmund Hillary to give back to the Local Sherpa people. Gokyo Cho La Pass Trek takes us through rhododendron and pine forests, across a beautiful waterfall and through high pasturelands, past chortens, and fluttering Buddhist prayer flags. Walking close to the Ngozumpa Glacier, which one is one of the longest glaciers in Nepal, Where trekkers are awarded for making the narrow and steep climb up when they reach three of the Gokyo Lakes with their turquoise, clear water. Another highlight of this trek is the steep hiking up to Gokyo Ri (5,357m) to view Mt. Everest, Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Lhotse, Mt.Makalu and other Himalayans peak. This hike provides us with both stunning Himalayas views and acts as acclimatization for the long day before to cross the Cho La Pass. We need to cross the pass before the winds set in, it is necessary to start the day very early morning, around 3 or 4 am. It’s a tough day with the top of the pass being at higher than 5,300 m. Some part of the trail is over ice, making it a real once in a lifetime experience! It's feeling of achievement continues as the trekking trail goes on to Gorak Shep, Everest Base Camp, and Kalapatthar, which one also has known as mount Everest View Point. 16 Days Gokyo Cho La Pass Trek is very famous in the Khumbu Region admired by thousands of trekkers all around the world. This is a really fun trekking trail that goes up and down the rolling hills, like the waves in the ocean, and is definitely a great trek that should not be missed. Our journey through Cho La Pass connecting to the Gokyo Lake to the popular Khumbu icefall and the Everest Base Camp guarantees a different great adventurous trek!
