Today we take a trip to the majestic city of York. York has a rich history and many museums celebrating it, such as the Jorvik Viking Centre, the National Railway Museum telling of 300 years of railway history, and the Chocolate Story which tells of the many famous sweet brands associated with the city. York Minster’s impressive Gothic architecture dominates the city as one of the largest cathedrals in Northern Europe, and The Shambles are always worth a visit, with its over-hanging timber-framed houses and traditional shopfronts. Browse York’s many shops, from high street favourites to quirky and independent boutiques, along with excellent cafes, pubs and restaurants.

This morning we take a trip along the coast to nearby Scarborough. As Britain’s oldest and original seaside resort, Scarborough knows a thing or two about pleasing holidaymakers. Enjoy the sandy beaches, visit the Sea Life sanctuary, or explore the 12th century castle. We return to the hotel for a festive cream tea.
