Day 1: Bangkok

Location: Bangkok

Welcome to Bangkok, the bustling capital city of Thailand! A world-renowned tourist destination, this vibrant city offers an eclectic mix of lively street life, cultural landmarks, and busy shopping areas.

Arriving at Suvarnabhumi or Donmuang Airport, you'll be met by our local representative and transferred to your hotel for check in. Spend the rest of the day at leisure to explore Bangkok. Why not try some tasty street food or take a thrilling tuk tuk ride?

Day 2: Bangkok

Location: Bangkok, Phitsanulok

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Bangkok - Phitsanulok. Rise and Shine! This morning you leave bustling Bangkok and take a journey back in time to Thailand's ancient past.

First stop is the historic Ayutthaya, the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam. You will then visit Wat Pranangcherng and the three ancient pagodas at Wat Phra Sri Sanpetch.

Next, visit Aranyik Knife Village, which dates back to the early Rattanakosin period. This village is home to generations of skilled craftsmen that have perfected the art of crafting knives and other items by hand.

The adventure leads to Angthong, where you'll visit the Ban Bang Sadet Court Doll Centre. Housed within a charming traditional Thai-style wooden house on stilts, witness the intricate process of crafting Thai dolls. Afterwards, prepare to be amazed at Wat Muang, home to Thailand's largest sitting Buddha image.

Continuing towards your overnight destination, Phitsanulok, you'll make a pit stop in Lopburi for lunch. Don't miss the chance to catch a glimpse of the ancient Khmer temple, Pra Prang Sam Yot.

Upon reaching Phitsanulok, visit Wat Pra Sri Rattana Maha Dhat, a temple that houses the beautiful Phra Buddha Chinnarat.

Day 3: Phitsanulok

Location: Phitsanulok, Lampang

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch

Phitsanulok - Lampang. Today will be a mix of culture and history, as you embark on a day trip to Lampang.

Your day begins with a visit to the Sgt. Maj. Thavee Folk Museum, a fascinating attraction with a collection of antiques that mirror Phitsanulok's past. Afterwards, visit a Buddha statue factory and observe skilled craftsmen as they fashion the iconic spiritual images.

The adventure continues to the renowned Sukhothai Historical Park, aptly named the 'dawn of happiness.' Prepare to be mesmerized by the UNESCO World Heritage Site, spanning 45 sq km and boasting 193 artifacts, including palaces, temples, city gates, walls, and villages.

Following lunch, make your way to Lampang. Along the route, stop to explore a ceramic manufacturer. Here, you'll gain insights into the making of the blue and white signature ceramic bowls.

As you arrive in Lampang, get ready for a walking tour of the elegant colonial houses that line Talad Gao Street. These stylish houses showcase the historical and architectural charm of the area.

Day 4: Lampang

Location: Lampang, Chiang Rai

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch

Lampang - Chiang Rai. Rise and shine with an early morning visit to a nearby temple. The temple visit provides an opportunity to engage in an act of 'merit' by offering food donations to the monks. Merit is believed to be a protective force that arises from performing good deeds. This sacred experience also creates a harmonious start to your day!

After the temple visit, you'll head back to the hotel for a delicious breakfast. Then, begin your journey to Chiang Rai with a few stops along the way.

First stop is a pineapple plantation. Here, try the delicious tropical fruit and learn about its cultivation process! You'll also pause at the breathtaking Phayao Lake for a well-deserved coffee break.

Next on the list is the captivating Doi Mae Salong, a mountain located a mere 6 kilometers from the Thai-Myanmar border. This area holds a rich history as it once housed a Chinese military division back in 1961.

Chinese influences still echo throughout this region, and you'll find several tea plantations and charming tea houses dotting the landscape. The elevation of 1,800 meters lends itself to the production of superior tea leaves, thanks to the cooler climate.

The area also boasts open-air bazaars and shops that offer an array of Chinese specialties. Take your time to browse through these offerings before heading to Chiang Rai.

Day 5: Chiang Rai

Location: Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai. Today, leave behind Chiang Rai's tranquil charm, and set your sights on the lively Chiang Mai.

The morning kicks off with a visit to the renowned Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos converge. Afterwards, enjoy a short cruise along the mighty Mekong River, soaking up its surrounding landscapes and rugged mountains.

Returning to Chiang Rai, pay a visit to Wat Rong Khun, often referred to as the White Temple. Prepare to marvel at its unique sculptures and artistic wonders.

After lunch, it will be time to head for Chiang Mai. Upon arrival, delve into the local craftsmanship with visits to handicraft factories. Here, you'll witness the skillful creation of traditional products such as Thai Silk and intricate paper umbrellas.

As the evening approaches, get ready for a truly unique Chiang Mai tradition—a khantoke dinner. This captivating experience combines delicious food, traditional dance, and musical performances. Served in charming small bowls known as khan, the meal is enjoyed while seated at low tables called toke.

Day 6: Chiang Mai

Location: Chiang Mai

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch

Chiang Mai - Bangkok. Start the day off fresh, with a visit to an orchid farm. Immerse yourself in the vibrant colours and varied species of flowers that thrive in Thailand.

You'll then head to the Elephant Poopoo Paper Park, an eco-friendly attraction that offers a unique experience. Discover the fascinating process of making paper products from elephant waste - a creative and sustainable endeavor.

Next, head to the Dara Pirom Palace Museum, an elegant property that once belonged to one of King Rama V's royal consorts. The building has been transformed into a museum containing a wide range of exhibits that showcase palace decor, as well as Chiang Mai's rich culture and history.

After lunch, head up the Serpentine Road to Wat Pra Dhat Doi Suthep. Perched 1,676 meters above sea level, this mountaintop temple dates back to 1383 and holds immense significance. It's Chiang Mai's most sacred shrine and offers stunning panoramic views of Chiang Mai City and the sprawling Ping Valley below.

As the day winds down, head to the Chiang Mai Railway Station, and board an overnight air-conditioned sleeper train (second class) that will transport you back to the vibrant capital, Bangkok.

Day 7: Bangkok

Location: Bangkok

Wake up to the gentle sway of the carriages as you arrive in bustling Bangkok. Peer out the windows and take in the mesmerizing sight of verdant landscapes, charming towns, and picturesque villages passing by on this final leg of your train journey.

Recently returned from Greece, a 5 day tour with OTG. Unfortunately, I had a negative experience on day 2 where I needed local support to get me out of a tricky situation. Thank you to Alexandra Z from Hetco Tours in Athens for helping me continue on with the trip, to the Hotel Zafolia staffing team and to Danielle and team here in the UK for supporting me with the aftermath. Your kindness will not be forgotten and I will pay it forward. I've now booked 3 trips with yourselves and will continue to go back. Thank you all. Honestly, I am SO grateful. Blessings to you all. Wonderful experience

05-Jan-2023

Jamal is our tour guide. Right from the start, he created a group chat in whatsapp and if any issues to make sure we contact him. He was on the ball with every issue thrown at him. Luggage being left behind, stragglers wondered off in a different path, hotel room etc. He explains the various site along our route to give us a better understanding of the local cultures. We had a great time, thanks to Jamal.

Land of the Northern Lights 5 day tour of Iceland

10-Sep-2021

The Land of Northern Lights tour was a triumph! My tour of Southern Iceland was absolutely wonderful. The venues chosen, the timing allotted at each venue and the variety of things to experience was nearly perfect. Our guide, "Thor", was smart, amusing, full of history and anecdotal stories as well as being incredibly hospitable and helpful. This small group experience was my first, but not my last thanks to On the Go.

On The Go Tours Sri Lanka was an incredible experience that was made even better by our tour guide Akthar. He was incredibly knowledgeable about his country and he loved sharing it with us. The tour covers a wide range of activities so you can truly experience what Sri Lanka is all about. The beautiful 4-5 star hotels at the end of every day was an absolute bonus. Thanks for a great trip OTGT I’m sure this won’t be my last

King Tutankhamun 10 day tour of Egypt

16-Sep-2021

I have just returned from my tour with On The Go and it was an amazing trip! From arriving at the airport and meeting the OTG representative, everything was well organised and hassle free.  Our tour guide was Amir. He is awesome!! From the beginning he was so friendly and enthusiastic about showing us around Egypt, giving us loads of information at each place and time to explore ourselves. Learnt so much from him about this fascinating place, and he was always happy to answer more questions.   The trip itself was amazing. There's lots of travelling on this trip, but it's really not too bad, and the sights you see when you get to where you are going are worth it. I'm not a big fan of boats, but the Felluca ride across the Nile was pretty fun too.  On the first day I also did the optional tour of Cairo with Ahmed Helal - another excellent guide from OTG. It's worth doing this add on as you don't spend much time in Cairo, and you go to three very different places.  I'm so glad that I decided to do this trip. It was just ace.  If you're thinking about it too, you should probably just book it. And hopefully you get Amir as your guide.

TOTALLY MOROCCO We booked a 9 day tour of Morocco visiting many main cities and places of interest. The coach was very comfortable and we felt safe with the driver Suliman. The guide was Hicham Touraouine and he was fantastic. He spoke perfect English as well as French, Arabic and Berber. He was so kind and considerate and made a good tour great. We particularly enjoyed ‘glamming in the Sahara Desert. So much to see and do and great food and company. We would definitely use On The Go Tours again, especially if Hicham was the guide. 09-May-2024

I would give this tour group no stars if possible. The tour was not guaranteed but they did not inform me when I booked and they did not have enough people. Way after I booked they said I needed a doctors letter because I was over 70. Also way after booking I was informed I needed travel insurance. They knew my age when I booked. They would not refund my tour even though it was 4 months away.

27-Dec-2023

Terrible tour of India. For some reason On the Go hadn't realised that my room mate had booked her own room for the first night of tour. So the hotel in Delhi had tried to put me in her room after midnight, by wheeling in an extra bed. She went Crazy!! I then had to sit in hotel reception for hours. While the tour guide said he couldn't find me a room. Throughout the tour the guide consistently ask me and my room mate for money for my room, causing more friction between us. Don't book with this company had the worst experience ever. Go with Intrepid or G Adventure

09-Aug-2023

I had used them once before and loved them. I decided to try them again for a Baltic tour not knowing that they put me on another Tour group- Baltic vision. Loved that tour but was not impressed they marked up the cost for me over 100%. I understand taking some for yourself because of paperwork, but over double the cost everyone else paid on the tour. Just double check before you book with them that you’re not over paying.
