Tour Overview
Join us on an exploration of the unspoilt region of Ireland’s Ancient East, from the Wicklow Mountains National Park with its sweeping peaks and moors draped in heather, to the sublime Powerscourt Gardens, ranked as No.3 in the World’s Top Ten Gardens by National Geographic. We combine stunning scenery with visits to the historic cities of Wexford and Waterford, home of the world-famous Waterford Crystal. If you are looking for an enchanting and captivating break, then this is not to be missed.
Itinerary
Day 1 : Wexford
The county town of Wexford sits at the mouth of the picturesque River Slaney and is home to plenty of historic delights. The well-preserved West Gate Tower is the only remaining ancient gateway to the town and the beautiful ruined Selskar Abbey stands on the site where the first Anglo-Irish peace treaty was signed. Wander through the narrow streets, enjoy true Irish hospitality in the many bars and restaurants, or sit back and revel in the relaxed atmosphere of this delightful town.
Day 2 : Wicklow Mountains
Covering most of County Wicklow, the magnificent Wicklow Mountains National Park is one of Ireland’s scenic jewels. Combining stunning mountains, rolling hills and tranquil lakes, this area is often called ‘the Garden of Ireland’. The mountainous landscape is home to rare flowers and beautiful birds of prey, with gushing streams and untamed vistas at every turn.
Day 3 : Dublin
The fair city of Dublin is a beautiful medieval city, with a long and colourful past - its museums, art galleries and wonderful architecture, all chronicling its fascinating history.
Tracing its origins back to a small Viking settlement, it has much history to offer its visitors. See the Book of Kells, written around 800AD, one of the most beautifully illustrated manuscripts in the world or visit the many castles in the area.
