Itinerary
Day 1 : Included Excursions
North Yorkshire Moors Railway & Whitby (full day)
We start the day at Pickering’s heritage station to board our train for a nostalgic journey on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, travelling through stunning scenery to Whitby. This charming coastal town features quirky streets and a picturesque harbour. It is most widely known for its atmospheric ruined abbey perched on the cliffs above the town which provided inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
Bridlington & Filey (full day)
We start our day of seaside fun with a visit to the delightful resort of Bridlington. There is plenty to see and do here with its sandy beaches, wonderful promenade and picturesque, bustling harbour as well as the Old Town, full of quaint shops and cafés. Next stop is the quaint resort of Filey, full of olde-worlde charm and boasting a five mile stretch of sandy beach as well as some of the most spectacular sea views on the Yorkshire coast.
Day 2 : Optional Excursion
York – £14pp (full day)
Our optional excursion takes us to the historic city of York. Make time for the glorious York Minster, the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe with world-famous stained-glass windows. Other highlights include the narrow cobbled streets of the ‘Shambles’ where the buildings date back to medieval times, the Jorvik Centre which tells the story of York’s Viking heritage, and the ancient walls surrounding the city. The famous Betty’s tea rooms are also worth a visit.
Day 3 : Scarborough
Scarborough coach trips are one of the best ways to enjoy one of Yorkshire’s premier seaside resorts, with its colourful seafront, bustling promenade, sandy beaches and beautiful gardens. This is a fantastic destination for a coach break, at any time of the year.
Scarborough offers a fantastic range of attractions and activities for all ages on a coach holiday. Explore Scarborough Castle, a 12th-century Roman ruin, dominating the resort headland. Discover the secrets of the underwater world at the Sea Life Centre, relax at the beautifully oriental-themed Peasholm offering a beautiful system of streams and waterfalls, mini bridges and mystical gardens park, or take a trip on one of the county’s oldest miniature seaside railways.
The Scarborough seafront is split into two lovely beach bays, on the north and south, linked with Scarborough's historic Victorian architecture. The South Bay is a great place to check out on a coach tour with its bustling seaside entertainment, whilst the quieter North Bay is ideal for taking a relaxing stroll.
Day 4 : Whitby
Experience a coach break to Whitby, an ancient and beautiful sea port with a history going as far back as the founding of its famous abbey in 657AD, which still dominates the East Cliff headland, with fantastic views overlooking this most popular seaside resort.
Offering something for everyone, there are many attractions that are connected to the town's fascinating past, from the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, where you can learn about the famous explorer's life, to the Dracula Experience, which guides you through the story and its connection to the town.
