Tour Overview

Just across the Strait of Gibraltar from Morocco lies sun-soaked Andalucía, one of the most beautiful corners of Europe. On this delightful Spanish escape we discover stunning golden-hued cities steeped in history, with a culture heavily influenced by the legacy left by Roman and Moorish rulers over the centuries. Highlights include a visit to the striking Alhambra Palace and the vibrant city of Seville, set on the banks of the Guadalquivir River.

Day 1 : Itinerary

Day 1
We fly to Málaga and transfer to our hotel in Torremolinos.

Day 2 – Ronda
This morning we check out of our hotel and make our way to Ronda, a historic town famous for the El Tajo Gorge. We enjoy a guided walking tour here where we can cross the 18th-century Puente Nuevo (new bridge) which spans the gorge and promises spectacular views. We then continue to our hotel in the Seville area where we stay for two nights.

Day 3 – Seville
Today we enjoy a guided walking tour of Seville. Situated on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, the city is home to the Andalucían tradition of flamenco and tapas as well as beautiful Moorish architecture, particularly the Alcázar Palace. Other highlights include the awe-inspiring cathedral with its La Giralda bell tower and the charming Jewish Quarter with its winding streets. We also include entrance to the magnificent Seville Cathedral.

Day 4 – Cordoba
This morning we check out of our hotel and make our way to Cordoba, where we stay overnight. Its historical city centre has a fascinating mix of Roman and Moorish influences which we explore on a guided walking tour. Winding our way through the maze of streets designed by the Moors to confuse any enemies who entered the city, we take in sights such as the Roman Bridge. We also enjoy entrance to the impressive Great Mosque and Cathedral (Mezquita), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most beautiful examples of Muslim art in the world.

Day 5 – Málaga
After checking out of our hotel, we travel to Málaga for a guided city tour. Located on Spain’s Costa del Sol, this seaside resort has beautiful beaches with a modern skyline and is famed as the birthplace of Pablo Picasso. Admire the impressive cathedral; the Alcazaba, a 10th-century Arab palace-fortress; and Gibralfaro Castle, which sits high on a hill overlooking the city. We then return to Torremolinos where we check back into our hotel for the last three nights of our tour.

Day 6 Alhambra & Generalife
Today we enjoy a guided tour of the Alhambra Palace, set on a rocky hilltop in Granada, framed by the stunning backdrop of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. With its exquisite Moorish architecture, it has been a fortress, royal palace and medina and boasts richly decorated rooms interconnected by arcaded courtyards graced with fountains. Connected to Alhambra is the 14th-century Generalife, former summer palace of the sultans, where the highlight is the magnificent gardens, offering an abundance of flowers, orchards and water features plus many wonderful viewpoints over the city.

Day 7 – Day at leisure

Day 8
After checking out of the hotel, we transfer to Málaga airport for our return flight home.
