Day 2 North Yorkshire Moors & North Yorkshire Moors Railway
Location: North Yorkshire Moors & North Yorkshire Moors Railway
After breakfast today we explore the North Yorkshire Moors. We first arrive at Goathland, whose station is famous for being Hogsmeade in the 'Harry Potter' films and for featuring as Aidensfield in the ITV programme 'Heartbeat'. Here we board the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, a preserved historic railway stretching for 18 miles through the heart of the North York Moors National Park.
Sit back, relax and take in the stunning scenery as we travel through this beautiful part of the country. We depart at Pickering station, another historic station often used in TV and films such as 'Downton Abbey'. Why not enjoy a cream tea in the station tea rooms? We will have some free time in Pickering to explore.
We then take a short drive to the charming market town of Helmsley. Explore the shops that line the market square or enjoy a coffee and cake in one of the many cafés! We then drive back over the moors to admire the stunning scenery and back to Whitby.
Day 3 Scarborough & Whitby With Fish & Chips Lunch
Location: Scarborough & Whitby with Fish & Chips Lunch
After breakfast today, we explore one of the North Yorkshire coast's main resorts: Scarborough. You will have free time to visit the old harbour, the heart and soul of the town. Take a walk in the beautiful Peasholm Park with its Japanese pagoda and waterfalls. Take a stroll along the promenade and admire the sandy beaches, or take the opportunity to hop on board an open top bus tour and see the main sights.
We then make our way back to Whitby where we will enjoy an included fish and chips lunch. You will then have some free time in Whitby itself to explore the harbour area. Walk the 199 steps up to the famous abbey, shop for Whitby jet in the many unique gift shops by the harbour, or stroll along the pier to admire the views of the beach and coastline.
Day 4 North Yorkshire Coast
Location: North Yorkshire Coast
After breakfast today, we head to drive down the North Yorkshire Coast. We will stop at Flamborough, famous for its lighthouse and stunning cliff tops. We then will make a stop in Bridlington, another popular seaside resort. Enjoy a stroll around the harbour and see the fishing boats, or take the land train that runs the length of the resort to see both north and south promenades in style.
We return to Whitby early afternoon to give you more free time to explore the town or to just relax in the hotel.
