Itinerary
Day 1
Make your own way to our hotel in Llandudno, where you will meet our experienced Tour Manager and enjoy a relaxing evening.
Day 2 Llanberis Lake Railway & Snowdon Mountain Railway
Location: Llanberis Lake Railway & Snowdon Mountain Railway
Today, our coach takes us to the quaint village of Llanberis, nestled beside Lake Padarn and at the base of Mount Snowdon, Wales' highest mountain.
From here, we enjoy a picturesque journey aboard the Llanberis Lake Railway. This wonderful ride traces Lake Padarn's shoreline, offering stunning views of mountains and the serene lake.
We then hop aboard the Snowdon Mountain Railway, a historic narrow-gauge railway which ascends the majestic Mount Snowdon, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding Snowdonia National Park – on a clear day, the views can stretch as far as Ireland! At the summit, there is a contemporary visitor centre which blends into its natural surroundings.
Day 3 Portmeirion & Ffestiniog Railway
Location: Portmeirion & Ffestiniog Railway
Today, we travel out by coach to Portmeirion, an Italian-inspired village perched on a private peninsula. It's best known as the backdrop for the 1960s TV series, ‘The Prisoner’. Combining Mediterranean flair with Welsh beauty, this unique destination offers an array of quaint, colourful buildings nestled amidst beautiful subtropical gardens and greenery.
After some free time to explore, we embark on the Ffestiniog Railway, the world’s oldest narrow-gauge railway. Our 13½-mile ride travels the full length of the railway between Porthmadog and Blaenau Ffestiniog, offering views of serene pastures, charming villages, dense forests, tranquil lakes, cascading waterfalls, dark tunnels, and even an intricate spiral!
We return to the hotel by coach and enjoy dinner this evening.
Day 4 Betws-Y-Coed & The Welsh Highland Railway
Location: Betws-y-Coed & the Welsh Highland Railway
This morning, we journey by coach to beautiful Betws-y-Coed, nestled in the core of the Conwy Valley and renowned as Snowdonia National Park's main village. Enjoy time to explore at your own pace.
Later, we continue to the scenic village of Beddgelert. From here, we board the Welsh Highland Railway. One of the UK’s longest narrow-gauge steam lines, a ride along this railway affords spectacular views of forests and mountains, passing through some of the region’s most significant geographical features.
Once arriving at Caernarfon station, we travel by coach to our hotel.
Day 5
After breakfast, it is time to check out of our hotel. Why not take the opportunity to visit the Great Orme in Llandudno or the neighbouring town of Conwy before you make your own way home?
