Itinerary
Day 1
We journey aboard the Eurostar from London St. Pancras International to Paris where we meet our coach for the transfer to our hotel in the Meudon Forest. Relax and enjoy dinner this evening.
Day 2 Paris & Monet’S Garden
Location: Paris & Monet’s Garden
After breakfast we travel by coach to Paris and enjoy a panoramic tour, where we will pass some of the city’s iconic sites, including the Eiffel Tower and the Champs Elysees. Don’t forget your camera as there will be photo stops along the way! We continue to the quaint village of Giverny, home to Claude Monet for over 40 years. The gardens here are among the finest in France and the inspiration for many of his great works, particularly the lily pond with its famous green Japanese bridge and weeping willows. We return to the hotel and enjoy dinner this evening.
Day 3 Palace Of Versailles
Location: Palace of Versailles
After breakfast we visit the Palace of Versailles, the most extravagant of châteaux, befitting the ego of Louis XIV. Our included entrance lets you see the palace’s most famous places: the Hall of Mirrors, Grand Apartments of the King and Queen, and the King’s Bedchamber. You’ll also have time to explore the magnificent gardens! We return to the hotel for dinner.
Day 4 Château De Vaux-Le-Vicomte
Location: Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte
After breakfast, we board our coach and drive to the opulent baroque Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte. The château was built between 1658 and 1661 and inspired King Louis XIV to build the lavish Palace of Versailles. With extensive grounds, beautiful tapestries and paintings, and a 350-year history, this magnificent château is recognised as a National Historic Monument of France.
After our included visit, we continue to the Loire Valley and the charming town of Blois where we will stay for three nights. Enjoy an included dinner this evening.
Day 5 Blois & Château De Chambord
Location: Blois & Château de Chambord
Blois is a charming town in the heart of the Loire Valley, famous for its magnificent castles and rich cultural heritage. This morning, we embark on a walking tour in the company of a local guide where you can admire the royal Château de Blois, a masterpiece of French architecture (entrance not included). We also explore the old town, where you can find quaint houses, cosy cafés, and historical monuments.
There’s free time to explore Blois before we join our coach and travel to the Château de Chambord for an afternoon visit.
The Loire’s largest building, Chambord is the symbol of the power of King Francois 1, who transformed this ancient hunting ground into one of the most beautiful châteaux. We return to our hotel where you have a free evening to eat in one of the many restaurants in Blois.
Day 6 Amboise & Château De Chenonceau
Location: Amboise & Château de Chenonceau
After breakfast, we travel by coach to the town of Amboise which not only boasts a royal château, but is also where Leonardo da Vinci lived from 1516 until his death in 1519. You’ll have free time to explore at your own pace.
From here, we continue by coach to Château de Chenonceau, perhaps the most distinctive of all the Loire châteaux, and a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture which spans the Cher River. Learn about the influential women who resided here, including Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medici, and discover the treasures inside, such as the room of Five Queens and the living room of Louis XIV. This evening is free for you to dine out at leisure.
Day 7
After breakfast, we transfer by coach to Paris and join the Eurostar for the journey back to London St. Pancras International.
