Day 2: Rouen (B/L/D)
After breakfast, enjoy morning and afternoon cruising towards Rouen, the capital of the northern French region of Normandy, which is a port city on the river Seine. Important in the Roman era and Middle Ages, it has Gothic churches, such as Saint-Maclou and Saint-Ouen, and a cobblestoned pedestrian center with medieval half-timbered houses. The skyline is dominated by the spires of Cathédrale Notre-Dame, much-painted by Impressionist Claude Monet. The Cruise will sail for Le Havre at 19:00 Hrs.
Dinner and overnight on board
Optional: Rouen city tour: Price is Part of Excursion package
Join us on a tour of the birthplace of Gustave Flaubert. Numerous Gothic buildings give the impression of being in an open-air museum. The Norman capital lives from contrasts: old half-timbered houses and churches in the center and on the banks of the Seine high harbor cranes next to banal post-war buildings. Victor Hugo once called Rouen the city of a hundred steeples. Countless buildings were destroyed by bombing during World War II, especially in the area between the cathedral and the Seine. Nevertheless, about 2000 half-timbered houses are still preserved today. You will be amazed by the charm of this city.
Day 3: Le Havre (B/L/D)
Enjoy your breakfast as you reach Le Havre early in the morning. Le Havre was greatly destroyed in World War II and rebuilt to be an important port city in Normandy. You have an opportunity to explore the Normandy coastline such as the Ètretats cliff-top paths for a view of steep rocks with impressive needle-like formations. Nearby, you may visit the city of Honfleur, where the Seine meets the Atlantic. This harbor town is regarded as a jewel on the Côte Fleurie and is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. The Cruise will sail for Caudebec en Caux at 19:00 Hrs.
Dinner and overnight on board
Optional: Excursion to the picturesque and artist town of Honfleur: Price is Part of Excursion package
At the mouth of the Seine where it meets the English Channel is the “picturesque Honfleur”, which has a long history, but also presents itself as a future-oriented harbor city. Visiting Honfleur means immersing yourself in history and finding yourself again in a unique environment. The historical harbor basin, the picturesque streets and traditional half-timbered houses make this small artist town one of the most charming coastal towns in Normandy. In the heart of the old sailors district, you will find a unique building, a real must-see: Sainte Catherines Church (15th-16th century) is the largest wooden church in France with a separate bell tower.
Optional: Guided tour of Le Havre with excursion to the seaside resort Étretat: Only Bookable onboard
Étretat is a French seaside resort, which is impressive mainly due to the steep rocky cliffs with their imposing rock formations. The town, which is located on the high Chalk Cliffs, is one of the most beautiful places on the Alabaster Coast. Numerous painters, including Monet, Courbet and Isabey, drew their inspiration from here, putting the countryside around the seaside resort onto canvas. Numerous authors also succumbed to the charm of Étretat. The composer Offenbach was also greatly attracted to the little town, which is why he had a villa built there. During your stay, let yourself be enchanted by this unique flair.
Day 4: Caudebec-En-Caux - Rouen (B/L/D)
You will reach Caudebec en Caux before sunrise. Caudebec-en-Caux, nestled along the Seine River in Normandy, charms visitors with its picturesque riverside setting and historic architecture.
