Explore the ins and outs of one of Western Europes finest countries with this 8-day tour of Germany! Your journey will begin in Frankfurt, known for its spectacular skyline and futuristic buildings. Visit the Romerberg, a wonderfully restored market square with historic buildings dating back to the 15th century. From there you will travel to Cologne, known for its rich range of Romanesque churches, and gorgeous gothic cathedral. Next, you will take the train to Hamburg, Germanys second-largest city, home to plenty of picturesque canals, shimmering lakes, and fascinating architecture. Your next stop will be in Berlin, the national capital, where you can see the Berlin Wall, visit the Brandenburg Gate, and discover many famous attractions and historic sites. This is the perfect place to learn about German history and see how the country was once split into two. Next, you will make your way over to Dresden, considered to be the most beautiful city in Germany with its stunning Baroque architecture and historic city center. Finally, take the train back to Frankfurt, where your tour of Germany will come to an end!

Day 1: Frankfurt Arrival
Welcome to Germany! Upon arrival at the Frankfurt International Airport, make your own way to your hotel. From there you will embark on a private walking tour of Frankfurt with a local guide (2.5 hrs). Visit the beautifully restored Romerberg, set on the shores of the Main River. Visit the citys museums, the quaint “Fressgass” Alley, the old Opera, and the elegant Goethestrasse Street. Other highlights of this tour include the former residence of Goethe, the Paulus Church, and wonderful views from the Hauptwache.

Day 2: Frankfurt – Cologne (B/-/-)
After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, make your own way to the train station where you will board a train for Cologne (travel time: 1:10 hours). Upon arrival in Cologne, you will transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, embark on a private two-hour walking tour of the city. As a great metropolis on the Rhine River, Cologne is the fourth-largest city in Germany in terms of population and boasts a great tradition of art and history. The spires of the Gothic Cathedral dominate the skyline of this old German city that is filled with various art treasures, lovely museums, and a rich cultural agenda.

Day 3: Cologne – Hamburg (B/-/-)
In the morning you will make your own way to the local train station, where you board a train for Hamburg (travel time: 4 hours). Upon arrival in Hamburg, transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, embark on a private two-hour walking tour throughout the city. Visit the historical warehouse region, the largest in the world; also explore the district of St. Pauli, better known as the “sinful mile” along with the Baroque Church of St. Michaelis, nicknamed “Michel”, and the Alster.

Day 4: Hamburg – Berlin (B/-/-)
After breakfast at the hotel, you will make your own way to the local train station to board a train for Berlin, the capital city of Germany (travel time: 1:40 hours). Transfer to your hotel to check-in. From there you will have the rest of the day at leisure to explore the city at your own pace.

Day 5: Berlin (B/-/-)
You will have a full day to continue to explore Germanys capital. Disembark at any bus stop to visit historic museums, go on a shopping spree, or stroll through the different neighborhoods of the city. Berlin speaks to the hearts of visitors with its rich variety of monuments and fascinating cultural life.

Day 6: Berlin – Dresden (B/-/-)
Today you will make your own way to the local train station, where you will board a train for Dresden (travel time: 2:10 hours). Upon arrival in Dresden, you will transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, embark on a private two-hour walking tour of the city. Dresden is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. Visit the recently restored Frauenkirche Church, the famous Dresden Opera House, and the Imperial Zwinger Palace with a lovely stroll along the Elbe River.

Day 7: Dresden – Frankfurt (B/-/-)
After breakfast at your hotel, make your own way to the train station to board a train to Frankfurt (travel time: 5:20 hours). Upon arrival in the city, make your own way to the Frankfurt International Airport to board your flight back home.

Can I join the tour once it has departed?
Yes, but only in case it was previously agreed by both sides and arranged by us.

What documents will I receive before I travel?
Our e-document package includes all local contact details, daily itinerary, airline e-ticket information, service vouchers, and travel tips which should be everything you require to go on your trip.

If I need one, who is responsible to obtain my visa?
You are responsible for obtaining the proper travel documents for the destinations on your itinerary, including having a passport that is valid for at least 6 months before the date of departure and a visa if required. Please check the Visa section in the Know Before You Go document for the countries you will be visiting.

Do you operate a “single share” option and how does it work?
No, not as standard. Solo travellers can book and occupy their own room for a supplement.

What happens if I need to change my holiday date once I’ve booked?
Changes to an existing reservation up to the Final Payment Date, whatever the cause, will incur a $100 per person amendment fee, potential loss of any supplier fees (such as non-refundable event tickets, park permits, and sea cruise reservations) plus any costs for replacement services. On/ after the Final Payment Date, the $100 change fee is no longer valid, instead cancellations terms apply.
