Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing and Preparation Day. (B)

After breakfast, we start for Kathmandu city tour which includes the four of the UNESCO world heritage site in the Kathmandu valley.

Pashupatinath: It is a very large, complex, and focal point for the Hindu religion. This old and very revered complex of Temple and shrines is dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the main deities of Hinduism and very popular in Nepal as well as Indian devotees. Hindu people believe that Lord Shiva has multiple forms he is often seen as the destroyer god. This has great significance for the Pashupatinath temple as it is the site of many Hindu ritual cremations each day on the bank of holy Bagmati River. Pashupatinath Temple is considered by Hindus to be an auspicious site for passing from one stage of life to the next through the purifying and destroying flames of cremation on the bank of Bagmati river and feet of Lord Shiva called Brahmanal. However, on a happier note, visitors may also get to see the temple in a buoyant festival mode with one of the many Hindu festivals like Shivaratri, Teej, Janaipurinma and many celebrated here throughout the year.

Boudhanath Stupa: It is a Buddhist religious complex with a long history back over 500 years and more. which is also the World Heritage Site UNESCO. Located on the eastern part of Kathmandu valley it is now a site of great pilgrimage for Buddhist followers who circle its massive stupa, spin its many prayer wheels and visit its beautiful monastery. The main feature of Boudhanath is its huge hemispherical white stupa with a central golden tower and the all-seeing eyes of the Buddha. It also believes that eyes represent peace and love. Visitors should circle the stupa in a clockwise direction and spin prayer wheels for good fortune and get Nirvana. Boudhanath surrounding is a kind of school for the visitors who are interested in Thangka painting to see highly skilled artists at work on religious mandala paintings.

Kathmandu Durbar Square: It holds the places of the ancient king who ruled over the Kathmandu Kingdom. The durbar square is an ancient Malla king of the Kathmandu Valley. It is all of the arts and architectural treasures of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also called the Hanuman Dhoka in central Kathmandu. It believes that the Kasthamandap temple was build in the 5th century from the single tree. The durbar square has many beautiful multi-storey pagodas and temples with ornate carving and carpentry artwork that tells some of the stories of the ancient kings and their mystical time and beliefs. The durbar square contains many important Hindu temples and statues such as Kal Bhairab, Swyat (White) Bhairb, and Lord Shiva. The main attraction for tourists contains unique and intriguing Kumari Chowk. This is an ancient and ornate house where resides in the Living Goddess. The young girl has chosen through an ancient and mystical selection process from the Newar community to become the human incarnation of the Hindu mother goddess, Durga. At the Kumari courtyard the right time is in the afternoon you may see a brief glimpse of the Goddess at her window.

Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple): Swayambhunath stupa complex that sits atop a high hill overlooking Kathmandu and the entire Kathmandu Valley with Mountain ranges on the north side. Swayambhunath is probably the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage site in Nepal. It is another famous tourist destination and holiest Buddhist and Hindu pilgrims. This temple also called the Monkey temple due to the lots of monkeys and they have their swimming pool. This is a wonderful place to catch your breath and observe the sunset, start to understand the deep importance of Buddhist belief to the people. It consists of a very large white stupa with the all-seeing-eyes, it believes the love and peace of Lord Buddha and many small stupas and beautifully carved stone shrines on the top of the hill. If you feel more energetic then you might also like to try some or all of the 350 steps or more that lead all the way from the eastern part from the temple called Bhagwan pau (God Feet)up to your Swayambhunath stupa vantage point.

This review is long overdue...

09-Dec-2022

This review is long overdue and I apologize. I cannot begin to express what an amazing itinerary Mr. Bhagwat Simkhada put together for me. I travelled solo from the US and had the most amazing adventure of a lifetime. His employees and tour guides (Hi Prakash :)), looked after me as if I was family. Mr. Bhagwat Simkhada even dealt with a last minute issue (mine, not theirs), that resulted in a significant change to my itinerary while I was there, and he somehow found a way to replace my original selections with equally enjoyable excursions. My experience with Himalayan Adventure Trek was that it was superior service for everything. From the beginning in the planning stages, all the way through my final departure, Bhagwat was available and quickly responsive to phone calls and emails. Nepal was truly an incredible country to visit, adventure, culture, history and amazing people. Traveling on my own, I admit to having been a bit concerned about safety before I got there, but i was made to feel extremely comfortable first by everyone representing Himalayan Adventure and then by the staff at the hotels that were arranged, and most of all, the Nepali people themselves. I cannot wait to reach out to Bhagwat to start to plan my return visit.

The greatest trip I could...

28-Oct-2022

The greatest trip I could have imagined all thanks to Mr. Simkhada and Prakash (our lead guide) We originally reached out to Mr. Simkhada to plan our trip to Everest Base Camp and boy was it planned to the last detail - every single aspect of it was planned out from the moment we got off the plane in Kathmandu to the moment we took off to return home. Unfortunately, the one detail that can't be planned around is weather and weather derailed that trip completely - instead of flying a helicopter to Lukla, we had to pivot to a different plan. Let me set the stage because pivoting to a different plan doesn't sound like a big deal, but it was MASSIVE. People were stuck trying to go to Lukla and getting out of Lukla for about 5 days - that means that 100s of 1000s of people were looking to change their plans. Additionally, Annapurna Circuit Trek had a lot of natural disasters (landslides and avalanches) and so the only option for all these people was Annapurna Base Camp. Within 2 hours of us telling Mr. Simkhada and Prakash that we would switch our plan from EBC to ABC they had EVERYTHING planned out and not just for a group of 4 or 5 people, no 18 PEOPLE! We had tickets to Pokhara from Kathmandu, buses were ready to pick us up, porters were put in place and local assistant guides were identified and hired. All the tea houses, lunches, dinners, everything was planned. To be honest, we didn't realize the enormity of their planning excellence until we were literally on the trek running into groups that had to also re-plan their treks to not only find out that 6 to 7 people were sharing rooms, being turned away from teahouses due to full capacity, or having to set up tents to sleep outside. Outside of planning we also loved the team they put together for us. Prakash is excellent - professional but fun and extremely detail oriented. By day one, he had integrated himself into our group so well that he was endearingly calling my mom, "mom." The assistant guides Urkin, Manoj, and Sitaram were also fantastic - very loving, and made sure we had the absolute best time. Finally, the porters, the 9 porters, we never saw anything but a smile on their faces. Really hats off to this company. We could have had a disaster trip and no one would have been at fault because you can't control the weather, but despite difficult conditions - they put together a trip of a lifetime.

06-Oct-2024

We booked an 11 day trip to Nepal through Himalaya Adventures. I cannot express my thankfulness to the company for putting together an incredible trip for five of us. Each step of our trip was organised and timed to perfection. Our guide, Suresh and our incredible driver Ramesh took care of all of our needs for the entire duration of our trip. We visited so many beautiful places, ate at incredible restaurants and were amazed at the natural beauty of the land. Ramesh is an incredible driver. He navigated the crazy Kathmandu traffic like a pro and kept our safety in mine. It was easy to communicate our needs to the company and they responded immediately. I highly recommend booking your trip to Nepal through Himalayan Adventures. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

11-May-2024

BEWARE! DO NOT BOOK A ROAD TRIP WITH THIS COMPANY. Very disappointed in our “luxury” 11 day tour with H.A Treks and T in March. Despite having full knowledge of the extensive road demolition throughout Nepal, Bhagwat sent us out on a very uncomfortable and unsafe journey in a car that was completely unsuitable for the road conditions. To top it off, our driver/guide spoke no English. We chose to end the trip early and fly back to Kathmandu at our own expense. When we complained and outlined all of our concerns to Bhagwat, he reluctantly offered a refund of $100 on a $4000 ruined “luxury” trip.
