Your journey in Egypt starts with a visit to the iconic Sphinx and the majestic pyramids of Giza. One option this morning is to explore the remarkable temples at the awe-inspiring UNESCO World Heritage site of Abu Simbel. Departing early, the aim is to witness the breathtaking sunrise over these temples. For those not opting for Abu Simbel, the morning is free for leisure. Otherwise as dawn breaks over the Nile River, we awake to the captivating panorama of Aswan, a vibrant tapestry of African and Middle Eastern cultures. Our morning invites leisure and exploration, whether strolling along the picturesque Corniche, immersing ourselves in the bustling markets, or delving into the fascinating history of the Nubian people at the Nubian Museum. We check out of our hotel and we embark on our Nile cruise boat to savor a delectable lunch, the Nile's mesmerizing scenery unfolds before us, its tranquil waters and palm-fringed shores captivating our senses. In the afternoon, we embark on an enthralling excursion to the Temple of Philae, a sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Isis. This architectural marvel, once threatened by the rising waters of Lake Nasser, was meticulously relocated to its current island location. As we approach the temple by boat, its majestic pylons and intricate carvings leave us in awe of the ingenuity and artistry of ancient Egypt. The rest of the day is free though an option is also available to take a camel ride through the sands on the far bank of the Nile to St. Simeon's monastery.
