Cycling Cuba

Well organised, fun and safe trip

The holiday was pretty much as described in the Trip Notes - a chance to see beyond the beaches and bodegas and experience, as much as you can as a tourist, a little bit more of real Cubans living their lives, as well as visit some of the different areas of this fascinating country in a period of transition. The cycling was challenging but it certainly did improve my fitness. The food was rather unexciting and the lavatory arrangements unpredictable, but these had been well signalled by the literature. The weather was consistently hot and humid, so the excellent backup from the support team, whether water, fruit, local knowledge or just encouragement on the road, was very much appreciated.      

A most enjoyable experience, an interesting destination and a well managed cycle tour - highly recommended for cyclists of all abilities.

16 day cycling holiday in Cuba, covering most of the island. Cycling between 35-80k for 10 days, with back-up support and bus transfers. Staying in huge variety of accommodation, from 5 star luxury hotels, to Russian utilitarian hotels, to beautiful colonial hotels, and a couple of casas, giving insight into how the locals live.

A fantastic holiday for those keen to experience the delights of this vibrant and happy country. The cycling is tough, lots of hills and a strong headwind much of the time, not to mention the potholes and exhaust fumes! But in the saddle you get to see the real Cuba, off the beaten track, the smiling Cuban faces, the simple Cuban homes and the wonderful Cuban music - all in warm weather and clear skies. We did however not expect the fantastic history lesson that we received from our leader, who left no stone unturned in his explanations of the events prior to, during and post the Revolution of the 1950s. By the end of the holiday we had all gained a much better understanding of the Cuban way of life and we found ourselves being intrigued as to what the future might hold for this amazing country.

This was a fantastic trip and I highly recommend it. We saw so much of the country: cities, villages, beaches, mountains, rural communities, museums, and monuments. Was great to get so far east. Cars and trucks on the road are very considerate. We went end of April/beginning of May and it was incredibly hot.

If you're thinking about this holiday, don't hesitate, just do it! Far exceeded my expectations. Cuba itself is mind-blowing, and the trip packs in a bit of everything.

This was a fantastic trip, everything I would look for in a holiday - cycling, sightseeing, Cuban history and all the camaraderie amongst the group.

Our family very much enjoyed their Cuban holiday. Accommodation was clean and comfortable, (varied standards). Many beautiful cities and artitecture features to admire. Bikes were well maintained. Food and mojito's plentiful.
