Once you have landed in Marrakech and collected your luggage, you will be met by a driver/agent outside the airport, in front of the Arrivals exit, holding a sign with your name on it. Please make sure you do not leave the pick-up area without having first met the driver/agent. You will then be transferred to your hotel, where you will check in, have dinner and spend the night. Any free time you have during the rest of the day is free for you to spend at leisure, be it resting from your flight at the hotel or heading out to start exploring the wonders of Marrakech at your own pace. In any case, make sure you get plenty of rest, for tomorrow your adventure begins.

MARRAKECH – OUARZAZATE

After breakfast at the hotel, you will meet your guide in the hotel reception at 8:00. Your journey begins with a drive through the Tizi n’Tichka pass, 2,265 metres above sea level, an area that offers stunning views filled with cliffs and colours everywhere you look. Contemplating the landscape feels like seeing all four seasons at once. You’ll then reach Kasbah Telouet, the oldest palace belonging to Pacha el-Glaoui and a fine example of this area’s traditional rural architecture. After a guided tour of the Kasbah, continue to the ancient Berber village and sumptuous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This area might be familiar, as it is renowned for being used as a setting for several famous cinema productions, including Alexander, The Mummy, Lawrence of Arabia, etc. Stop for a local lunch and then proceed through the stunning Atlas Mountains to finally reach Ouarzazate, where you’ll spend the night.

Start your day with breakfast in the hotel then head out onto the main street of Ouarzazate for a tour. Begin with a visit to Kasbah Taourirt, another property of the el-Glaoui clan. It has a magnificent structure and is considered the largest Kasbah in Morocco. Then depart from Ouarzazate and go to the heavenly Fint Oasis, a lush garden in the heart of the desert you’ll be glad to discover after traversing the dry, desolate terrain of the Anti-Atlas Mountains. Enjoy this green palm grove in which you’ll find a village brimming with traditional Berber culture and tradition (if you want, and circumstances permitting, you might get to share a mint tea with a Berber family). After visiting the Fint Oasis, hit the road once more and make your way to Kasbah Tifoultoute, which looms majestically on the banks of the Tifoultoute River. Admire the magnificent view of the valley from its terrace; you can see all the way to the High Atlas Mountains. This building is another of the many that belong to the family of the famous Pacha el-Glaoui and another popular filming site in the Ouarzazate region. You’ll have lunch in the Kasbah and then drive back to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi n’Tichka pass. You’ll be back in your hotel at about 19:00.
