Tour Overview

This tour journeys from the west to the east of the island where you will visit cultural and historic sites and meet artists and musicians. In addition, you will experience the diversity of Cuba through food and drink. Many people are pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of food available in Cuba (even for vegetarians!), and now that the government has legalized privately owned restaurants, Cuba’s culinary status is on the rise! From the cosmopolitan cuisine in Havana, to the creole flavors of Baracoa, learn how the region’s history, geography, and industry reflect on the local cuisine. The name.. Canchánchara and Cucurucho are fun to say, but even better to savor! Both are delicious regional specialties, the former is a “healthy” drink made of lime, honey, and rum served in clay cups popular in Trinidad, the latter is a Baracoan sweet made of coconut and wrapped in banana leaves.

We will also stop at a local home and learn about cucurucho, a sweet treat made of honey, nuts, and coconut that is as much fun to eat as it is to say! After the long bus ride, you’ll need to stretch your legs. Luckily, the best way to get around town is on foot and we will visit places like the Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, with the impressive bust of the Indigenous leader Hatuey (burned at the stake for his refusal to accept either the Spanish, or their Catholic religion). Highly recommended! Wonderful trip, very well organized, the program was great: a bit of history and architecture, a lot of nature, a bit of adventure, a bit of relaxation on the beach and a lot of fun, rum and salsa! The guide, Alejandro, was excellent and also very funny, with excellent English. Extremely clean Casas Particulares with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, safe. The bus was modern, clean, with a very nice and safe driver. Great food, in beautiful places, and on top of that a lot of music and rum... what more could you want!

Alejandro was an amazing tour guide! He was very informative and patient with the entire group. 15 Day Canchánchara to Cucurucho

04-Mar-2023

We recently returned from the 15 day tour for Americans. We had an absolutely fabulous time. Cuban Adventures made the planning process so easy and the cost of the tour was very affordable. The itinerary was very comprehensive and allowed us to see so much of Cuba that we would not have been able to see on our own. Our tour guides (Camillo and Armando) and bus driver (Luis) were wonderful and very knowledgeable and professional. Cuba exceeded my expectations in every way… it has so much natural beauty…it is a place frozen in time, a living museum of old cars…full of personality, charm, warm and friendly people, vibrant colors, rustic colonial era architecture, great weather, stunning beaches, great music, amazing food and mojitos and daiquiris, and revolutionary history. Truly fascinating. I highly recommend Cuban Adventures.

The trip was perfect from beginning to…

17-May-2023

The trip was perfect from beginning to… The trip was perfect from beginning to end starting with our guide Estefan who was so eager to make our trip memorable which is certainly did. I took the 15 day tour and wish I would’ve taken the 20 day. That’s how much I enjoyed every minute. We had a mini bus and a wonderful driver and I guide explained everything along the way but also let us have time to just enjoy the spectacular views that are all over the country. Our accommodations were great and the hosts were so happy to have us. The food was great and we took a few optional tours which were wonderful, one was the boat down the river and lunch at the beach and the other one was the catamaran trip in Trinidad. Both were well worth the money. I cannot wait to come back and am planning on February or March for an eight day trip. Great company and wonderful people and the safest and cleanest country I have ever been in
