Explore Machu Picchu - Return to Cuzco (B)
Take an early bus to Machu Picchu to enter the site as it opens. Your English speaking guide will meet you for a guided visit to the archaeological site (approximately 2 hours). You will then have plenty of free time to explore the hidden corners of this ancient Inca city on your own. You can choose from the optional treks to climb Huayna Picchu (additional cost - to book at least 2 weeks in advance) or walk to the Inti Punku (Sun Gate) for panoramic views of the site. Later, return to Aguas Calientes by bus. Then, take the return train back to Ollantaytambo and bus to Cuzco late in the day at 14:30, 16:12, or 19:00. Upon arrival at Cuzco City Center, you will need to make your own way to your accommodation for the night.
Note: You have the option of taking an early return train or a late return train departing Aguas Calientes at 4:12pm and 7pm, respectively.
Information about the OPTIONAL hike up the steep peak named Huayna Picchu, which is located inside the Machu Picchu archaeological site: This sometimes muddy peak takes about 45 - 60 minutes to hike up and awards you with unforgettable views of Machu Picchu from a coveted perspective. Keep in mind that if you want to take this optional hike, you must now purchase your ticket at least 2 weeks in advance in order to get one of the 400 passes (200 people are allowed up at 7:00am and 200 more at 10:00am). What is the itinerary for the first day of the tour?
On the first day, you will be picked up from your accommodation in Cusco at 7:30 am and travel to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You will visit the village of Corao, the ancient Inca town of Pisac, and the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo before taking a train to Aguas Calientes.

A professional bilingual guide is provided for the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu guided tour. For the hostel package, the guide is shared, while for the 3-star and 4-star hotel packages, a private guide is provided.

Is there an age limit?
No! Most of our bamba travellers fall between the ages of 18 - 35, but everyone is young at heart and welcome to come experience the world with us! If you are between the ages of 18 and 118, we invite you to travel with bamba and have the time of your life! Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Most of our trips cater to the adventurous independent traveller. In fact, many of our travellers arrive on their own and quickly find that they easily meet like-minded people along the way at their hostels, on transportation, or during activities.

Do I need travel insurance?
We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance for your trip, especially when travelling in developing countries. Bamba does not include travel insurance of any type.Your current medical insurance may cover part of your trip, so it is important for you to become familiar with your current coverage. We recommend purchasing additional travel insurance that provides coverage for medical emergencies, emergency evacuation and repatriation, lost or stolen items and unforeseen cancellations. If you plan to participate in activities such as white-water rafting, trekking, sand-buggy rides, etc please make sure they are included in your policy.
