Highlights
Itinerary
Day 1
Location: Christchurch
Accommodation Name: Hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch
After group introductions and a trip briefing we head directly to the Christchurch Adventure Park in the Port Hills for an awesome 4 line zip adventure which has both the highest (at 150 metres) and the longest (just over 1 Kilometre) ziplines in New Zealand. This course is dual lined so great for racing your mates and also offers spectacular views over the forests of Victoria Park, Christchurch City and towards the mighty Southern Alps.
After lunch we head inland and to a secret hiking spot with great waterfalls, rich history and impressive panoramas of the Canterbury Plains before a final stop at the stunning Rakaia Gorge on our way into Methven.
Day 2
Location: Lake Tekapo
Accommodation Name: Hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch
Taking the Inland Scenic Route through the Canterbury Plains and alongside the foothills of the Southern Alps we head through Peel Forest and into the hills for an exhilarating white water rafting on the Rangitata River.
We think this is the best and most extreme white-water rafting available in New Zealand where you will experience the longest sections of grade 5 rapids in the country at all water levels.
Fed by the enormous catchment of the Upper Rangitata Basin, this massive volume of water winds its way down the valley and where the river is wide and calm in the initial stages, you receive a full safety brief and on water training from your professional guide.
By the time you reach the rip-roaring grade 5 section where the gorge narrows to a pinch and the action escalates, you're fully prepared and ready for what lies ahead!
All rafts stop before these grade 5 rapid sections which offers the chance to to take a look and see what's ahead, the option is always there to walk around this section if you prefer!
Once off the river we'll enjoy a classic Kiwi BBQ before heading to our destination for the evening Lake Tekapo which is a major highlight of any South Island tour. Lake Tekapo is famed both for it's fabulous Turquoise colour with picture perfect views during the day, and with very limited light pollution, as one of the world's best places for stargazing at night.
Day 3
Location: Aoraki / Mount Cook
Accommodation Name: Hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch
Continuing South through the MacKenzie High Country we take in more picture perfect views across Lake Pukaki to 'The cloud piercer' Aoraki Mt Cook (3724m), then over the Lindis Pass and into the heart of New Zealand's Southern Lakes themselves. Prepare to be wowed. After a lunch stop on the shores of Lake Wanaka we cross the fords to Mount Aspiring National Park and into the wilderness of the Matukituki Valley. From here we undertake a spectacular afternoon Return Hike to the Rob Roy Glacier.
Day 4
Location: Wanaka
Accommodation Name: Hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch
Wanaka is renowned for it's incredible bluffs and crags and as such is one of the top places in New Zealand for climbing.
This activity can cater for experienced climbers and beginners alike. For those who are new to this environment today will provide you with the basics of climbing as well as give you confidence and an overall impression of what this exciting sport is all about.
Receive instruction on the equipment involved, its proper use and care, knots, basic climbing concepts such as belaying (a climber's safety system), rope handling and technique. Then it's time to put it all together and spend the rest of the day climbing and abseiling on a top rope format.
If you have some good experience and depending on your goals, we can cover skills such as lead climbing, multi-pitch, anchors, rope management and advanced climbing techniques. If you simply want to climb then we can just go hard out on the areas "classic climbs".
In addition you will benefit from our qualified guides' excellent local knowledge as they take you to the best climbs for your ability to practice your new found skills.
Day 5
Location: Queenstown
Accommodation Name: Hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch
We depart Wanaka late morning driving through the historic Cardona valley and over the famed Crown Range to Queenstown, home of Adventure Junkies and the adventure capital of the world.
This afternoon you will have the choice of an epic heli-biking adventure or a visit to the Oxbow adventure playground for an adrenalin combo that will blow your mind.
Those who love mountain biking have always been drawn to our NZ Adrenalin trip because we offer heli-biking in the big mountains around Queenstown with huge 1,300 metres (4,265 feet) descents. This is the ultimate mountain bike experience and really showcases Queenstown and the mighty Wakatipu basin.
Heli biking is not for beginners and requires some previous mountain biking experience to be comfortable and enjoy the grade 3-4 rough backcountry alpine trails. If you are unsure about your experience being suitable then feel free to drop us an email for some guidance, you can also check here for MTB trail grading in New Zealand
Those choosing not to heli-bike will instead be taken to the Oxbow adventure playground and experience awesome adrenalin, power and acceleration on water and on land (mostly)!
Experience what it feels like to fly on water in the speed demon that is the world's only 4 seat Jet Sprint boat. Â This boat accelerates from 0 - 100kph in an insane 2.5 seconds on a private aqua track courtesy of your own expert driver. Â Once back on dry land strap in and hold on tight for a once in a lifetime ride in the ultimate off-roader. Â This is a one of a kind all terrain vehicle that will have you rock hopping, cliff climbing and creek jumping on a ridiculous specially designed extreme course. Â Nothing will prepare you for the beast!
It's not uncommon for our guests to want to do both the heli-biking and Oxbow combo, FOMO is real! We're happy to say that we can usually manage to squeeze both of these into the itinerary without too many problems so let us know if you're interested in upgrading to both activities.
Day 6
Location: Queenstown
Accommodation Name: Hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch
Kick start your day with a massive adrenalin high and an amazing 12,000ft Tandem Skydive with one of the most incredible backdrops of the Southern Alps available. This is an ultimate bucket list adrenalin activity, and even if this is not your first skydiving rodeo the drop zone here by The Remarkables mountains and over Lake Wakatipu will simply blow you away.
Safely harnessed to a qualified instructor, you will Freefall for 45 seconds and experience terminal velocity with arguably the best views of New Zealand's Southern Alps.
Open the chute and silently gliding down to terra firma and take in the jaw dropping lake and mountain views, or keep the adrenalin pumping with some crazy corkscrew turns under canopy!
After lunch your afternoon is free to explore this unique mountain town and your guide will help you make the most of your time here. There are seemingly unlimited options for your free time here with Queenstown being a mecca for downhill and cross country mountain biking trails, epic day hikes in the mountains, hang gliding and paragliding from the local peaks, luge riding accessed from the Skyline gondola, submersible shark rides, quad biking, river surfing, helicopter flights and much, much more.Â
If you're looking to take your foot of the pedal for a minute then Queenstown is also a huge destination for fans of Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit with guided tours available that take in classic filming locations, plus we have world famous vineyards with cellar doors for tastings and platters in the Gibbston Valley right here on our doorstep too!
Day 7
Location: Lake Te Anau
Accommodation Name: Hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch
Today we leave Queenstown but not before bungy jumping at the world famous 43m Kawarau Bridge, the world's first ever bungy site, or taking on the Nevis Swing, the world's highest swing!!
For those who want to take bungy jumping to the next level then an upgrade to take on the mighty the 134m Nevis Bungy is also an option, and for those who are seriously looking to max out on adrenalin then upgrade to do all three in the legendary Thrillogy combo!
This afternoon we drive to picturesque and sleepy Lake Te Anau which serves at the gateway to Fiordland National Park and is your base for the next two nights. Here you time to take in some big mountain and Lake views before making preparations for Sea Kayaking in Fiordland National Park the following day. Lake Te Anau is also home to numerous cave systems and there is an opportunity to take in an optional lake cruise and check out some Glowworms this evening.
Day 8
Location: Fiordland National Park
Accommodation Name: Hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch
This morning you'll head deep into Fiordland National Park for a full day and to one of New Zealand's most amazing natural wonders for a Milford Sound Sea Kayaking adventure. Spectacular does not come close to describing both the drive from Te Anau on the Milford Road drive nor the Fiord of Milford Sound itself which has been coined as the eighth wonder of the world.
Whilst paddling amongst giants prepare to be amazed by truly awe inspiring natural beauty which includes sheer towering peaks, hanging valleys, thundering waterfalls and the opportunity to see NZ fur seals, dolphins and the beautiful Fiordland crested penguin.
Day 9
Location: Queenstown
Accommodation Name: Hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch
This morning we depart Fiordland and travel into classic kiwi back country for a cross country mountain bike adventure through stunning and remote glacial valleys which finishes at Walter Peak homestead on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. The ride is approximately 35km in distance and typically takes 3.5 - 4 hours which includes time to enjoy a picnic lunch with unbelievable lake and glacier views. Electric bikes are available for this ride!
At Walter Peak station the historic TSS Earnslaw steamship or Lady of the Lake will provide you with a well earned cruise back to Queenstown Bay to round off a great day of adventure.
Day 10
Location: Queenstown
Accommodation Name: Hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch
We finish off our tour with an iconic and world famous jet boating ride through the spectacular Shotover Canyons. The jet boat is a great kiwi invention and this ride will see us screaming through narrow canyons whilst doing 360 degree spins. This activity helped put Queenstown on the map as the adventure capital of the world so what better way to end an incredible 10 days of New Zealand adventure.
There is free time available this afternoon for any weather dependant rescheduled activities such as skydiving and heli-biking that may have not been previously possible due to weather issues, or you can spend the afternoon kicking back and relaxing....you've earned it!!
