Tour Overview

This extraordinary Annapurna Circuit Biking trip takes you to some of the most stunning and exotic biking routes in Nepal. Annapurna Circuit biking tour passes through a variety of different landscapes, from lush sub-tropical rainforest, deep valleys and cultivated fields, to wooded alpine and high deserts. Visit many different villages, meeting the local hill communities and enjoying frequent spectacular views of massive Himalayan peaks, including Annapurnas and Manaslu. Reach the lowland villages, dense oak forests, deep gorges and lovely isolated hamlets to the lap of the mighty high mountains and the Gangapurna lake – one of the beautiful altitude fresh water lakes. To top it all, the crossing of the Thorong La pass (5,416 m) is a challenging ascent, surrounded by some of the most magnificent mountain sceneries in the world.

Begin your mountain biking trip after driving from Kathmandu to Besisahar via ground transportation. This is the starting point of biking (and also that of trekking). From here begin biking anti-clockwise around the Annapurna massif. The trail climbs gradually, allowing you to acclimatize to the high altitudes, as you travel along the Marsyangdi Valley. After the crossing of the Thorong La Pass, descend to Muktinath, one of the most important Hindu pilgrimage sites. From here, cross Lupra Valley to reach Jomsom, and then descend down to Tukuche, Tatopani and finally at Beni where your biking ends. A jeep will transfer you to Pokhara and the next day return to Kathmandu.

As demanding the rugged terrain and technical tracks are, this Annapurna Circuit Biking trip is designed for the more experienced riders, and not recommended for beginners. It will be grueling but surely worth every drop of sweat.

Highlights

  • Crossing the Thorong La Pass at 5,416 m
  • Tasting the renowned apples, apple pie and apple wine in Jomsom
  • Sight-seeing in Muktinath and exploring the popular hiking routes in the area
  • Bathing in natural hot springs at Tatopani
  • Crystal-clear mountain range visible from Pokhara
  • Farewell dinner at a typical Nepali restaurant on the day before departure

Day 1 : Arrive In Kathmandu (1,345 M)

Location: Kathmandu

Our airport representative will receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. He will be displaying an Ace the Himalaya signboard outside the airport terminal. You will be then transferred to your respective hotel in our private tourist vehicle.

Day 2 : Pre-Biking Meeting And Drive To Besisahar (760 M)

Location: Besisahar, Lamjung

Accommodation: Lodge

Meals Included: Breakfast

In the morning, after breakfast, take a six-hour ride to Besisahar. It is the starting point of the biking trip. There make necessary preparations and meet the support team which includes porters for carrying your luggage and equipments.

Day 3 : Ride From Besisahar To Tal (1,700 M)

Location: Tal

Accommodation: Lodge

Meals Included: No Meals

The beginning trail follows the course of the Marshyangdi River along the right side of the valley. As you ascend uphill, you gain about 1,000 meters in elevation. Today is the perfect prelude to more thrilling riding in the days to follow.

Day 4 : Ride From Tal To Chame (2,670 M)

Location: Chame

Accommodation: Lodge

Meals Included: No Meals

Leaving Tal, there is a mani wall (dry stone wall inlaid with Buddhist prayer slates) in the middle of the path. These should always be passed on the left going clockwise. After going through green corn, barley and potato fields, the valley becomes narrow again. From Tal to Danaque it will involve a large percent of push / carry with a very steep hard climb out of Danaque. From here though it becomes more ride-able with closer views of snow-capped peaks and a wide flowing trail to the finish.

Day 5 : Ride From Chame To Manang (3,540 M)

Location: Manang

Accommodation: Lodge

Meals Included: No Meals

Ascend through pine forests as the trail opens into a fertile agriculture valley. The dirt trail leads you through villages and settlements and you get the opportunity to meet with friendly locals and snotty children. From Pisang (3,230 m), the route follows through a wide valley that opens up ahead of us.

Day 6 : Acclimatization In Manang And Visit To Gangapurna Lake And Glacier

Location: Manang

Accommodation: Lodge

Meals Included: No Meals

You won’t ride further today. Just explore around the Himalayan town to acclimatize to high altitude. Ascending rapidly could have potentially fatal consequences. There are many short excursions from Manang. One of them is a visit to Gangapurna Lake. It will take about half an hour to reach this beautiful lake. We will also go for a short hike to one of the hills which will take around an hour to reach. You can witness the majestic Mt. Gangapurna standing tall and also the beautiful lake beneath from the top of the hill. Rest of the time can be spent in acclimatizing and enjoying the environment around.

Day 7 : Ride From Manang To Thorong Phedi (4,450 M)

Location: Thorong Phedi - Thorong La Road

Accommodation: Lodge

Meals Included: No Meals

Leave Manang and then start climbing towards Yak Kharka (4,010 m). Continue to ascend to higher altitude. Pedaling becomes a very hard work due to elevation. So, go slowly. Enjoy the scenery and culture of the region. It is important to remain physically and mentally prepared for the highest ascent of the next day.

Day 8 : Ride From Thorong Phedi To Muktinath (3,760 M) Via Thorong La Pass (5,416 M)

Location: Muktinath

Accommodation: Lodge

Meals Included: No Meals

Wake up very early for the 4-am start which is necessary to cross Thorong La Pass. The trail can get windy later making it difficult to cross the pass. It will take approximately 4 hours to reach the pass (approx 3 km). You will have to carry your bike to get there. The climb is demanding, the effects of altitude can be felt more and more as you ascend but you will be awe-struck by the spectacular views of the landscape. Once at the top, rest, enjoy the feeling of getting to the highest point of Annapurna Circuit and be ready for the amazing downhill ride. After 45 minutes of technical riding, you will be in Muktinath (3,760 m) where you can rest your exhausted body.

Day 9 : Ride From Muktinath To Tukuche (2,590 M) Via Lupra Valley

Location: Tukuche

Accommodation: Lodge

Meals Included: No Meals

Exit the pilgrimage town of Muktinath and ride towards Dhangladanda through a less-used trail. From the viewpoint, you will be riding on impressive single tracks all the way down to the river bed in Lupra Valley. Then, paddle to Jomsom where you will rest and have lunch. From Jomsom onwards, move to an old village of Tukuche. Explore the Thakali culture of the village and take a sip of Apple Brandy.

Day 10 : Ride From Tukuche To Tatopani (1,190 M)

Location: Tatopani Myagdi

Accommodation: Lodge

Meals Included: No Meals

The starting of the trail is easy to ride, but after Rukse Chaahara the trail drops about 1000 meters in elevation. This is the most challenging and enjoyable part of today’s ride. The downhill trail takes you to Tatopani, the village known for its hot springs. Once there, enjoy a refreshing hot bath.

Day 11 : Ride From Tatopani To Beni (899 M) And Jeep Ride To Pokhara (830 M).

Location: Pokhara

Accommodation: Hotel

Meals Included: No Meals

Today is the last day of riding. Enjoy as you paddle towards Beni municipality, the end point of Annapurna Circuit biking. From here, take a jeep for Pokhara. In about 4 hours, you will reach the destination. When in the city, rest and explore.

Despite the last minute booking,...

16-Nov-2023

Despite the last minute booking, everything went smoothly from start to end. A friend did the EBC trekk recently (October 2023) and Ace came highly recommended. We finally chose the luxury trip to elevate our experience. (Best decision! 😬) Starting from the website, everything is well explained in great detail, leaving me little room for redundant questions. I’ve been previously asking another operator, but information is too general & vague, raising so many unanswered questions. Booking procedures were also straightforward, with a few questions here and there being nicely accommodated by Ace. All services promised were delivered, from pick up, hotel transfers etc. We’re also delighted with the hotel chosen, loved Ramada’s breakfast, rooms were clean & spacious bathrooms. Came the actual trek, our guide Madan & porter Jit, also came highly recommended by a friend. Great recommendation, indeed! Madan’s leadership on this trek has delivered us a fun, relaxing, yet safe and secure experience! His extensive experience & knowledge on Himalayan treks made us feel always at ease that we’re in good hands. Always briefing us on details about what’s coming during the trek, food & drinks suggestion, constantly being attentive to our needs. When my husband started showing high altitude symptoms, Madan had always give the right suggestions on what to take or do, giving us the assurance that we can make this trek. Jit our porter also displayed a well behaved professional manner, our belongins are always ontime & safely landed in the next guesthouse. And if we need to get some stuff in the middle of the trek, he would be happily waited for us and let us unpack to take what we need. Thank you, Madan & Jit! Briefings were always done by Prem himself, showing us a great deal of responsibility & sense of belonging to the business and customer’s satisfaction. What I appreciated even more, there was even a post-trek evaluation meeting, ending it eith a nice farewell dinner. I think it’s trully a nice touch to make our whole experience wonderful, like I said from start to end. Thank you Ace, Prem, Madan & Jit, for taking care of us, for giving us such sweet memories. I will definitely recommend you guys to everyone!

My journey to Everest Base...

01-Apr-2024

My journey to Everest Base Camp with Ace the Himalaya was nothing short of extraordinary. From the breathtaking vistas of streams, lush valleys, and towering peaks, to the warm camaraderie of the team, to the many moments of sharing the trail with all those beautiful yaks, every moment was filled with awe and wonder. Nimesh Nepal, our guide extraordinaire, deserves special commendation. His deep knowledge of the region, its people, and the terrain, coupled with his passion for the mountains, made every step of the trek a delightful adventure. Nimesh's guidance was not just about navigating the trails but also about immersing ourselves in the rich culture and history of the region. His stories and insights added a layer of depth to my experience that I will cherish forever. Ace also provided an incredible team of porters – Birkaji, Padam, and Bigyan. Their strength, speed, and unwavering smiles were the backbone of our journey. Despite the challenging terrain, they carried our belongings with grace and ease, ensuring that we could focus solely on soaking in the magnificence of the Himalayas. The attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction demonstrated by Ace the Himalaya is truly excellent. Ace had excellent, detailed information on their website (including a superb packing list), and was direct and clear with communications from the start. On the trail, from the comfortable teahouse accommodations to the delicious meals prepared along the way, every aspect of the trek was meticulously planned and executed. Standing at Everest Base Camp, surrounded by towering peaks and fluttering prayer flags, I felt a profound sense of accomplishment and gratitude. Thanks to the exceptional team at Ace the Himalaya, this dream of a lifetime became a reality. I wholeheartedly recommend trekking with Ace the Himalaya to anyone seeking to experience the surreal and otherworldly beauty of these unique and amazing mountains. I can't wait to book another trek with Ace the Himalaya in the future.

Ace the Himalaya 14 day...

15-Mar-2024

Ace the Himalaya 14 day Everest Base Camp Trek I can’t say enough good things about Ace the Himalaya. Prem and Sujan in the office helpfully answered our pre-trek questions promptly. Met at airport by our guide, Raj, with marigold leis. From start to finish, Raj was there with guidance and support. Supposed to start our trek on 3/3, but flight to Lukla cancelled due to bad weather (not uncommon). It was third day in a row of flight cancellations, so lots of people stuck in Kathmandu or Manthali- where many had opted to go to get Lukla flights. Raj explained our options: our group decided to book helicopter for next day (cost split 5 ways), and took helicopter to Lukla- amazing views of mountains and hills on way to Lukla. Later found out this was good decision as some stuck in Manthali with other outfitters had to switch to other treks as not enough time to get to EBC. Started our trek. Other than a little rain on day 1 had pretty clear weather, though still cold. On Day 2 stairs to Namche nearly took me out (I’m short, and many stairs came up to my thigh), but Raj’s encouragement: “Drink, drink” and “Walk slowly, slowly” got me though (my advice if you’re short is to add more step ups to your training regimen!) Raj often checked in with us to make sure we had no symptoms of AMS and checked our O2 saturations daily. Every day we would arrive at tea house to find our bags already there by our amazing porters Naryana, Sher Bahadur and Paisal. Naryana also made delicious fruit platters for us every night and filtered water for the trek- until the filter froze in Lobuche. Teahouse accommodations become more basic the higher you go up the hill: at first, rooms with private bathroom, flush toilet become shared bathroom with bucket flush toilet and outdoor sink. This shouldn’t be surprising since Gorak Shep teahouse is at 17,027 ft, and all supplies must be carried there. Views are absolutely amazing and cannot be adequately described. Raj was extremely informative, knowing all the heights of the mountains, routes to climb, etc. He also knows everyone on the trail: he has been a guide with Ace since they started 17 years ago. Route to EBC has many amazing views: Ama Dablum-wow- and cool suspension bridges to walk over, including the double Hilary bridge. We were also able to visit Tengboche Monastery. On the base camp day, you hike from Lobuche to Gorak Shep, rest for an hour and then go to EBC at 17,598 ft. Climbing moraine to Gorak Shep wiped me out: Raj was so helpful carrying my pack and helping to find the best route over the large boulders (he did the same thing the next day on the way back). Just took my phone, poles and snickers bar to EBC (my husband carried water), and it was still difficult, but I made it! Beautiful bowl surrounded by mountains Pumo Ri, Lingtren, Khumbutse, Lho La and the wall of Nuptse with the top of Everest and the South Col just behind it. Great views of Khumbu Icefall and Khumbu Glacier: you walk across glacier to get to EBC. Many photos and then back to Gorak Shep for a well-deserved rest. On the way back my husband and I decided the last 2 days of the trek might be a little much for us: Raj got helicopter for us (shared) and even got us on a flight to Lukla the same day! As a final example of the awesome individual attention given by Ace, my husband’s 60th birthday was during our trek. Raj bought a cake from Cafe 4410 in Dingboche (if you’re ever in Dingboche, go there), our porters secretly carried it to Lobuche, and they surprised my husband (and me) with an impromptu birthday party! Yes, Raj planned a birthday party at 16,503 ft! If you’re going to trek to EBC, go with Ace the Himalaya!

We had an incredible time...

20-Mar-2024

We had an incredible time on our 14 day trek to Everest Base camp all thanks to our amazing guide Sunil Ghale & porter Arjun Lama! Not only were they both super friendly, kind & fun to hang out with but we also learned so much from them about the area & Nepali culture. Sunil Ghale took such great care of us - always making sure we were prepared, getting what we needed & making sure that we were being safe in terms of altitude. He’s such a fun person to hang out with & after this trek we consider him a friend! 100% recommendations requesting him for your trek!! Arjun Lama always has a smile on his face despite carrying over 30kg of our things on the same intense 14 day trek that we did with light day bags! He’s super friendly & knowledgeable about the area & we had a great time spending time with him & learning from him! 100% recommend requesting him for your trip - as a soon to be guide!

21-Jan-2024

I trekked with ACE to Everest Basecamp in October/November 2023 and it was definitely worth it! Spectacular views and a once in a lifetime experience. A big credit and thanks for the amazing familiar atmosphere and the experience on the trek itself has to be given to our three expert guides and the porters. Pasang as lead guide handled all of our problems in a nice and calm way, with great humor, and professionalism. Our assistant guides Sauman with his bright personality, and Birkaji are equally great and the trio complimented each other well. Our porters were also amazing, especially Lhakpa, Gopal and Hira! Overall, it really felt like everyone at ACE made sure that we got the best experience and had an incredible time on this stunning trek. I will definitely trek with ACE again next time!

From start to finish, our 14-day Everest Base Camp trek with “Ace the Himalayas” was nothing short of extraordinary. The breathtaking scenery coupled with the culturural experience made this a once in a lifetime trip. Thanks to the exceptional team at Ace our trip was seamless. Our experienced and knowledgeable guide, Nimesh was truly the best! Nimesh has all the qualities you could hope for in a trekking guide; trustworthy, passionate and knowledgable to name just a few. We were led through breathtaking landscapes with unmatched expertise and enthusiasm, and felt in very safe hands the entire way. Nimesh was not only an outstanding trekking guide, but when the busy day was done went above and beyond to socialise with our group and ensure each part of our trip was as comfortable as possible. Kalika our Assistant Guide was a solid part of our team. Kali was always there to ensure we had fresh water, food was ordered in a timely and efficient manner and his approachable presence was a pleasure to be around. A special mention to our wonderful porters, Purna, Pradeep and Keshab. I was in awe of their work ethic and resilience, to ensure our bags were delivered on time (every single step of way!). We were provided delicious meals and warm hospitality throughout the journey. Every aspect of the trek was meticulously planned and executed flawlessly, leaving us with memories that will last a lifetime. I cannot recommend Ace highly enough for anyone seeking an unforgettable adventure.

Exceptional Everest Base Camp Trek...

24-May-2024

Exceptional Everest Base Camp Trek with Ace the Himalaya: Outstanding Support from Raj Kumar and the Team I recently embarked on an Everest Base Camp trek with Ace the Himalaya. Although we couldn't complete the full 14-day trek due to altitude sickness, our experience was unforgettable, thanks to the incredible support from our guide, Raj Kumar, our sales operators, Sujan, our porter, Dipa, and the CEO, Prem. The trek itself was stunning, offering breathtaking views at every turn. From lush green forests to picturesque villages and towering snow-capped peaks, the beauty of the Himalayas was truly awe-inspiring. Our journey started in **Pakdhing**, where we immediately felt the warmth and professionalism of Raj Kumar. His extensive knowledge about the local culture and environment made our trek educational and enriching. As we trekked from Lukla to Pakdhing, Raj shared fascinating insights about the region, ensuring our journey was both informative and enjoyable. Dipa, our porter, impressed us with his cheerful demeanor and quiet strength. He managed our gear effortlessly, always arriving ahead of us with a smile. Moving on to **Namche Bazaar**, the vibrant gateway to the high Himalayas, Raj's expertise became even more evident. He guided us through the challenging ascent, constantly encouraging and supporting us. The panoramic views from Namche Bazaar were simply breathtaking. In Namche Bazaar, Raj introduced us to the lively town, taking us to local landmarks and sharing stories of the Sherpa people. His attentiveness to our acclimatization process was reassuring, as he constantly checked on our well-being. Our trek to **Tengboche** was both breathtaking and demanding. The path took us through stunning rhododendron forests and across roaring rivers, with the majestic peaks of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam always in view. Unfortunately, upon reaching Tengboche, I began experiencing severe symptoms of altitude sickness. Raj's guidance was crucial as my condition worsened. Demonstrating his deep understanding of altitude sickness and emergency protocols, Raj swiftly arranged for an emergency evacuation coordinating with Sujan from the office. The next morning, they organized a helicopter evacuation to Lukla, where I could receive immediate medical attention. Raj stayed by my side throughout the process, ensuring I was comfortable and well-cared for. Ace the Himalaya provided an exceptional trekking experience, highlighted by the outstanding support from the team. The breathtaking beauty of the trek, from lush forests to towering peaks, made every step worthwhile. Ace the Himalaya not only provided an exceptional trekking experience but also went above and beyond to assist with my travel insurance reimbursement. They helped me gather and provide all the necessary documents, making the process smooth and stress-free. The company's commitment to their clients' well-being and satisfaction was evident in every aspect of their service. Thank you, Ace the Himalaya, for an unforgettable adventure. Special thanks to Raj Kumar for being an outstanding guide. Raj's expertise, kindness, and professionalism were invaluable, especially during our medical emergency. Also special thanks to Dipa for his incredible support during the trek, to Sujan with all his support with the administration, and to the CEO, Prem. I highly recommend Ace the Himalaya to anyone considering the Everest Base Camp trek.

Wow! What a beautiful adventure...

26-Jan-2024

Wow! What a beautiful adventure with our guide, Madan, as we trekked to Annapurna Base Camp. Madan was so friendly and accommodating and we were so lucky to have him as our guide. Because it was only our small group of 4, he let us push further than usual each day to give us more time at Base Camp. Madan not only paved our path, but made sure that we were comfortable every step of the way. His kindness even extended beyond his duties on his day off when I ended up in the hospital in Kathmandu and he stayed with me there all day. Ace the Himalayas (more specifically, Sajiya) checked on me each day, which just goes to show the added love of this company. When we return, we will 100% choose Ace the Himalayas again! And, next time, we hope that Madan will take us to his favorites!
