I definitely can recommend Unu Raymi Expedtions as your trip to Peru agency. Although they are not just an agency - they do a lot more. All the way during our Peru journey with Unu Raymi we feel confidence and care. We made Ausangate trekking, Sacred valley and Nazca lines with them. Everything they do is well planed. Moreover, during our trip heavy rains destroyed a part of rail-road to Machu Picchu making it impossible for us to visit as planned, and Unu Raymi took the effort to replan the trip - making sure we visit it.

First time experienced traveler in Peru. My goal was to see Machu Picchu, participate in an Ayahuasca ceremony while hiking through the rainforest, and enjoy the culture and mountain hikes that time allowed. James was excellent. He understood exactly what I was looking for and madly made it happen. Peru has all the elements for adventure tourism: friendly and open culture, unique natural beauty, nightlife, amazing food, remote places with few crowds, iconic archaeological sites, and good transportation infrastructure that makes it easy to access remote areas. Thanks to James and Unu Raymi I was able to experience the best that Peru has to offer. I booked the 8-day ‘O’ Circuit trek in Torres del Paine through Unu Raymi and completed the trek in late December 2023. The booking process prior to the trek was quite straightforward, and James was able to answer the various questions that I had. The trek itself was fantastic and I had an excellent team in Francisco (as my guide) and Teo (as the cook/porter) out on the trail. Francisco obviously knew the trail well, and in addition had very good knowledge about the plants we saw and was able to point out the names of the various mountains throughout the trek, as well as being very good at spotting the condors high above on several days. Teo did a superb job with the meals on the trek. He was able to accommodate my request for vegan food and I was amazed at the variety of the different meals he was able to prepare, including fresh vegetables at various times, and every meal tasted great. Overall it was a fantastic experience!

I just finished the winter W trek booked with Unu Raymi. The whole experience was wonderful - amazing scenery led by the best guide, Andres and the porter, Victor. They were instrumental in making the trip a truly special once-in-a-lifetime experience. From knowing all the best spots and suggestions to giving us the best hiking route, to cooking delicious meals and making sure we were well fed and looked after at all times, Andres went above and beyond to give us a special experience. The staff are AMAZING. I thought we were joining a group but on a private trek! The guide was professional highly qualified incredibly helpful and hyper-focused on our safety and enjoyment the entire time. Our porter did not speak English but was also overqualified (highly skilled climber) for this job and great to be around. We even had a cook (what?!?!) which blew us away because we thought we would be eating in refugios (there is excellent food service even in the tent-only areas. His cooking spoiled us completely and there was always more than enough to eat.

My son and I did the 'O' circuit of Torres del Paine which Unu Raymi managed to arrange for us at short notice. It was a fantastic 7-day trip with stunning scenery. What made it special for us was we had a guide (Ivan) and porter (Hugo) who taught us so much about the land the flora and fauna and the history of Chile and. Patagonia. The Trek with Edu was a great experience for both me and my companion. It was just us two and Edu which made for a very relaxing experience for the trip. Edu is a great guide. All the good qualities you’d hope for from a guide - patience, well informed, fun, a great cook and good company. His relaxed attitude towards guiding us helped make the trip a very enjoyable experience. Never did we feel rushed by him (and I stop to take A LOT of photos!) and he found the right balance between engaging in conversation but also allowing us our own space to chat between each other. Oh he takes great photos too! And was always happy and willing to help get good shots of us amongst the beautiful surroundings. The route it’s self was perfect for us and we were blessed with some great weather on the first day with many clear and sunny views of Mt Fitzroy while we climbed.

A great trek in Chile through the beautiful Torres del Paine National Park over 8 days organized by Unu Raymi Expeditions. 5 trekkers new to each other (USA, AUS, CA) led by guide Andres and supported by a great quartet of porters. Our group was blessed with beautiful weather and a magnificent natural wonder of mountains, glaciers, and forests along the trek. Even the condors came out to watch us. Thanks to James for coordinating the trek and being very responsive during my preparations and many thanks to his team for their work in Puerto Natales and along the trail in Torres del Paine; keeping an eye on us all and making all the details seem easy.

I had an amazing time in Peru! We booked a multi-day trip with the company and everything went smoothly. They tailored the itinerary to exactly what we wanted! We spent a day exploring the sacred valley, spent a day on the Inca trail (~10 miles of hiking) with a guided tour (Ed/Edwardo) which was great. Then I spent a day at agues clienties + Machu Picchu, then spent a half day doing rainbow mountain. Our trip planner (James) really worked with me to create the perfect trip for us. Our driver was also very friendly and our tour guide was very informative. I would definitely recommend this company!

Unu Raymi tours helped me organise a three week holiday to Peru. This allowed me to visit many of the country's most important sites but with flexibility to add some extra places to my itinerary. The planning was excellent in that all the tours, transfers and hotel arrangements were very straightforward and the various contacts were very helpful, considerate and professional. Although getting around Peru and seeing all the fabulous sites made for a quick holiday, with lots of travelling, it was well worth it as there is so much to see. The hotel, food and tour standards seemed very good value for money within the budget, and I received lots of extra guidance in planning my own aspects of the trip and support when an unexpected medical issue arose. The website has interesting information and guidance which helped me plan accordingly - I think this could be developed, although James was very helpful in helping me plan the holiday including travel and packing considerations. Overall it was a memorable few weeks for me.

Unu Raymi expeditions were the best people, they helped me through my whole trip! So I took a chance on traveling to Peru, me and my ex had planned a trip to Hawaii, we broke up, anyway I found James at Kim Kim, and I always wanted to experience Machu Picchu, I brought my two surfboards from Canada to go surfing for the other half of my trip (on my own) James from the company helped me basically plan my whole trip because I was in a bind, we did the lares valley hike for 2-3 days. He got me some day trips around the sacred valley, some of the farming sites, local villages, food, and machu picchu! my trip was on a very tight schedule so they fit everything in perfect for just a week, (half the trip) then the rest, I spent surfing and chilling a little partying here and there 10/10

We booked this trek with Unu Raymi just a month before we flew to Patagonia from the UK. James at Unu Raymi was able to book the campsites and Refugio at short notice and organised a route that worked brilliantly. He organized a porter to carry the tents, sleeping bags, and other camping items so we only had to carry backpacks. James was brilliant and knew all about the local wildlife and geology. Good trip.

We had the most amazing time completing the W-trek with our guide Andres. Since we were in off season the refugios were closed and we slept in tents. Most of the time we were the only ones there which made it a really special experience. Andres did amazing and he made sure everything was well arranged which was a bit more of a challenge since we were in off season. Most importantly we felt really save and in good hands with Andres! Also the contact with James was effortless and with very quick respons! We would definitely recommend!

Well-organized guided trekking tour. Our guides for our 3 treks were awesome! During our stay in El Chalten, we were caught in a snowstorm and roads were closed for 2 days. James and Martin helped us during these 2 days with our extended stay in the hostel and arranged transportation back to the airport. They kept us informed of the road closure status and made sure we were able to go back to the airport safely and continue our trip in Argentina. We recommend Unu Raymi!!!

Amazing time in Ausangate!

We just returned from Peru and an amazing trip organized by Unu Raymi Expeditions. What an incredible experience they curated for us, with care and attention provided at every step. We worked with James MacKender, a Unu Raymi principle, and it was clear from the start that his goal was to create a trip tailored to our hopes and dreams: to see the sunrise over Machu Picchu; to prioritize hiking as much as possible during our time in Peru (we love being outside); and to organize an incredible hiking and hot springs experience in the Ausangate Mountains, complete with a guide and cook who prepared amazing food (even a special birthday cake made from quinoa flour) and delivered their creations wherever we were hiking in the mountains. There’s nothing like a warm soup and salad surrounded by snow-capped mountains! And even when our airline canceled our plane reservations at the last minute, James and Unu Raymi were there to help us out, rebook our flights, and find us a great hotel! Many thanks to Unu Raymi and James MacKender and his team for making all this possible. If you have the opportunity to visit Peru or other South American countries where Unu Raymi works, put yourself in the hands of James and his team, they will create a unique and unrepeatable experience for you.

ALONE IN THE BEAUTIFUL RAINY GARDEN WITH A WONDERFUL TEAM FOR 5 DAYS

Wow! The trip was amazing. I can recommend it, if you like to stay outside! Believe me. I did a private tour with a team of 4 people (guide, nurse, horseman and cook). They cared a lot about me. The guide was very flexible, so we could spontaneously add the rainbow mountain to our tour (we arrived before the tourists so we could create perfect photos). The guide (Edu) was an excellent storyteller. She took the time to explain to me many things about the Inkas (including the draws in the sand for better understanding). The nurse was a very kind and lovely person! She cared about me. The trek itself was most of the time just with the guide and the nurse. At the camps and while eating, the cook and the horseman were with us (and they did an amazing job). The cook (Theo) was an amazing chef. Every meal was created with gas and consisted of three courses. All meals were "muy muy muy yum" (yes, really yummy)! We ate soup, dessert, lasagna, pasta, banana cake, pancakes, fish and much more (yes, everything was created on the fire! Crazy, isn't it?) Of course, also the rider (Wilfredo) was an absolutely nice person. You see, the team was great. And also, the scenery. We were there during the rainy season (in February). We had all kinds of weather (sun, rain, hail, snow) several times a day. No problem if you have good equipment. And the nature looks very impressive. The green is so nice and everywhere nice rivers. If I were to go again, I would also choose the rainy season. Because I think nature is much more impressive. Most of the time, there was no one else (not even locals). Just nature. Before the tour I kept in touch with the tour operator (James). He was very polite. We exchanged phone numbers and I could ask him all the questions I have while packing at any time and made a quick reply via WhatsApp. Tip: Take a water filter system with you. There are many rivers with glacier water. At last: The tour was long, tiring and the evenings/nights were cold. I liked it. It is important that you are aware of this. There were two hot springs on the way (first and last day). According to the plan, we would only spend ca. 1 hour there on the last day. So if you can, maybe you should do the trek in 6 days, instead of 5. Then you have more time, to enjoy everything. But the hardest thing for me was the cold weather in the evening and at night. So I was lucky with 5 days ; ). So thanks to Unu Raymi Expeditions and their wonderful employees. Best Michael

Trek & Climb: Nevado Qampa - 3 Days

James is one of the most carrying and understanding tour provider you would have. I am going to break this review down into mutliple aspects so it would help you pick James and his company without a doubt. The Trek: The trek to Qampa was planned for 2 days with a camping night at base camp. I was foolish enough to think that I would be acclimated to the elevation after a day at Cusco. As i am from Los Angeles (a city at sea level), the hike to base camp proved to be too much for me and i got sick with elevation sickness. James and his team gave me ample opportunity to carry on, took care of me when i got sick (provided meds, oxygen tank and such) and advised me accurately regarding my health. Sadly, I had to turn around to go down in elevation to take care of my health but James and his team did everything to take care of me throughout the process. The hike to Qampa and base camp was immensely beautiful. All the tools and supplies (food and suck) was provided and carried by the team. I would highly recommend this trek and I myself will be coming back to achieve this summit. Cusco and everything else: James picked me up from the airport on my first day and took care of most of the logistics regarding booking a hotel and such. Monetarily, everything provided by James and team was luxurious and economical enough to beat the prices of other facilities in Cusco. James helped me with touring the city and provided a personal touch that made me feel valued and cared for. He went above and beyond to make sure that my trip was stress free especially the fact that I dont speak spanish. TL:DR - If you want an adventurous, fun and safe trip...book James and his team. They will do everything to make sure you get the most out of your trip and ensure your safety at each point.

This tour was one of the best adventures I had in my life. The guides Eduardo and Herman are kind, and knowledgeable, and were always checking up on me since we were at 16,000+ altitude. They know the terrain very well and we’re giving me history and geography lessons on the trail. We shared many laughs and stories. Our mountain cook Jaime cooked delicious meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and was always offering me a hot beverage. Pedro our horseman always had my tent ready at the next camp! The sites on and around Ausangate are awe-inspiring. There are way less trekkers on this trail than the others, so if you are looking for peace and calm, this is the trek to be on. We had to start very early some days and then the reward was seeing the crimson sky and sunrise. Overall, this was a thrilling trek, one that tested my limits, and left me humbled and helped me define who I am. Totally recommend it to any adventure seekers!

We had the time of our lives thanks to Unu Raymi. They showed us the best spots to enjoy in Peru. Their drivers and guides were so accommodating. I would recommend this expedition if you would like to experience Peru at its finest.

James at Uni Raymi sorted out a fantastic hike for my husband and I in Argentinian Patagonia. I don't think our guides Faco and Mika work in Peru, but I would certainly recommend them - they were very attentive to us and gave us a tailored experience that was challenging but not too much - and at the end of the day made us delicious food. They were also incredibly knowledgeable - we learnt a lot about the Patagonian landscape, animals and plants... Plus we felt like they were hosting and looking after us, not just guiding. It was a fantastic experience that we will never forget.
